Myself:

Sunday: Will have to wait and see.

Please use It's Going Off website to record your planned sessions etc.
http://goingoff.net/

Refer to BOM forecast below for Port Philip Bay.
Forecast issued at 5:10 am EST on Friday 1 June 2012.

Saturday 2 June
Winds West to northwesterly 5 to 10 knots tending southwesterly 10 to 20 knots during the morning. Seas Below 0.5 metres increasing to 0.5 to 1 metres around midday.

Looks like some good ESE winds down at Inverloch on Sunday.

I'll either be at Area 45 or the angling club.

goingoff.net/Spot/Date/2?date=20120603
or
goingoff.net/Spot/Date/3?date=20120603

P.S. Thanks WindRider for the link to my site, I'm looking forward to hear any suggestions of how it can be improved. Colin.

I've never used twitter (WTF is it for?) but doesn't it work like this:

post a message to "at #ricketts on 5.6 #goingoff"

all twitter subscribers of that keyword tag (#goingoff or #ricketts, or only both together or whatever) get that message:

If so, then heres a suggestion:

establish some keywords to be used on twitter,
push any check-ins thru goingoff website onto twitter
(from a goingoff twitter account but including the message senders name)
and also you can get a feed of any twitter messages with these keywords and replicate those onto the website.

Then you've just solved the problem of creating a mobile application for sending and receiving these messages.

just signed up now and installed mobile app,
#goingoff is already in use for something else as is #itsgoingoff,
so I'm going for #wsvic

So if anyone wants to try this out subscribe to that tag and see where &
what I'm sailing tomorrow (Hint: it'll most likely be Hampton on 6.6),
or send one and I'll see what your doing.

Tell me if it works (i guess i don't get my own 'tweets')

If you log into goingoff.net/ with your twitter account, tick the boxes that say "Direct message me if somone checks in..." under favourite spot notifications.

Find or create your windsurfing spot on the site and click on the "add favourite" button, then you'll get notifications via twitter.

The other logins (google/facebook etc) use email to send you notifications.

It's a good idea to tweet checkins with a hashtag, I just wanted to avoid too much "noise", e.g. if goingoff.net tweets every checkin, you'll see tweets when anyone goes sailing in vic, nsw, uk wherever. I'm open to suggestions of how to "partition" it with unique tags for your area. The "favourite spot" arrangement is meant to do that, but any bettter ideas are welcome

Unfortunately, the problem isn't really notifications, I've already added twitter, email and rss feeds in addition to just browsing to the website and looking at who's planning sessions. The problem is making it simple and convenient to fill it in.

Issue with rye in an easterly is a big hill which makes it pretty flukey. Ricketts works well in an easterly if it gets high enough up the bay.

In that case a more sophisticated Twitter client like tweetdeck or custom Twitter client could filter by multiple hashtags such as #wsvic and # ricketts, but they'd need to know thetags to post and setup complex filters. Difficult one that. Ok sorry hadn't gone that far with your site but signed for test this weekend

SE is too off shore for Rye. The houses and the trees stop the wind.

An easterly usually misses Rye, due to the curve of the bay. You could try up at Sorrento or 'round in Westernport (subject to swell size. Check Swellnet and the links from the Rye front beach camera before you go to Westernport).

Hope this helps.

Jman couldn't sup today.
He decided he would go along and cheer his beloved Essendon on to victory over the AFL easy beats....
