Nope.

Maybe in a couple of hours though. Not sure it's going to be warm enough for a seabreeze, but fingers crossed.

Well done, st. kilda is a classic good spot to sail. i find it gets the best wind in the bay. you should have a beer tonight and celebrate

where do you park your car / rig in st kilda?
by the pier? somewhere along brighton beach?

edit: or closer towards elwood?

hopefully i will be joining you on the water in a year or two! i'm getting married to my australian fiancee in july =)

Most people launch close'ish to St Kilda pier, just downwind of the kiters (aka closer to the city), on the center-median-strip. See here:

You can use the nature strip or the median strip. There's a lot more space on the madian strip and more grass coverage and the traffic lights are timed such that you get plenty of time to cross the road with your gear all set up if you're a little bit patient.

hope there are "surfers crossing" signs along the road then, hehe

lots of kiters, i'm having a hard time to spot a windsurfer on the satellite pics.
edit: ooh now i see a couple -37.856241,144.964571

but where do you park your wheels, along beaconsfield pde?

Yep - one the beach-side it is pay-per-hour **; on the house-side it is 4hrs free; in the side street, all day.

** the inspectors are usually quite a rare sight, with most guys parking on the beach side.... except when its +25deg on the weekend, or summer school holidays.

there are a bunch of kits on the beach just south of the original co-ordinates
