Hi,
again and again my board is being dragged much down wind - whatever I do - simply straggle to keep it in a normal angle while heading back to the beach.
is it the fin too big / sail too small or just bad technic :-)
(fin 44 cm -board 130 Lite - sail 5 - my weigh 59 kg)

THX!

It's just part of the learning process when stepping onto a board that doesn't have a centre board.

Most people when the first go out on a board like that wind up doing the walk of shame up the beach - it's not so much to do with the equipment, but rather technique.

Can you tell us if you're planing or not?

Most probably pilot error, if you are planning you should be able to get up wind by angling the rig back, moving forward in the harness, looking up wind etc...non-planning might mean depressing the windward rail to stay upwind, more power is always better for going upwind so a bigger sail can help, a big fin helps with pointing up wind.

commonly called the "walk of shame"... gets less the more you sail but every now and again you get a reminder.

I try to head upwind from my launching spot as much as possible when heading out, specially if the wind is marginal as it allows for a bit of drift downwind, or an off the wind blast if the wind is good, back to the beach.
