The boys are out there every day on the web cam kiting, even when there is no wind any where else. Like today for a example it's 20 knots there right now and there is no wind any where else. st. kilda is more windy than the coast along most of the peninsula. It just does not add up

Some say it is because it is closer to the city - plenty of concrete etc that gets nice and hot under the sun - hence can create a stronger local seabreeze effect. It kind of makes sense to me, I would be open to hear any other thoughts.

RIP my first ever mast - 430 30%C sunshine. Retired today in the seabreeze, thanks for the memories and for staying together after hundreds of catapults.

where did you windsurf today??

I windsurfed off williamstown beach on a 5.5m, amazingly there weren't too many Jellies - I guess they got blown into the center of the bay?.

Sailed nearly to altona beach but there was a frenzy of kiters in close to shore, landing looked dangerous.

The stretch of sand dune from Altona to Pt Cook is the best speed strip in the Bay but only works in a massive westerly and haven't had many of those lately (see image). Also need booties and medium to high tide so you don't have to wade through the mud and urchins at the end of the esplanade. Have reached a 38knot peak on south side of Pt Cook but way to gusty to be enjoyable (yellow pins in image). Next time the forecast is MINIMUM 25knots and preferably 30-40knots westerly it's the place to sail fast in Melbourne and has way more potential than Rye, although Rye has been good the last year because of the amount of northerlies we've had in winter. Maybe this winter we'll see more westerlies again which is typical.
