After a few months off understanding I wasn't ready, I'm back at it!
Suggestions? Was so preoccupied that I just hung on super hard pulling the sail more or less towards me.
hands in blasting position, then slide back hand a little further back ,stand up straight to pop of the chop, you need to use your legs to pop on flat water, pop, look back, front arm straight rear arm sheeting in to you are eating your boom, tuck rear leg up to land to reduce backslap, if you keep getting back slapped you're going too slow and you're not popping off the chop, or you're heading upwind too much to jump
looking at your photo you need to straighten the front arm, sheet in more with the back arm, puch sail a little further forward, then you are well on your way to destroying your boards,
Thanks, I will be working on extending that front arm. Ideally I'd like to have my boom higher up at the pop so I can try climbing on it.
We'll see what happens with the next few attempts.
I can't say Im an expert looper but I have been watching heaps of how to videos .
One video I really like is this video of Amado Vrieswijk as it is a really good perspective as it is shot from a boat alongside. Just look how far he bears away (i.e. dead downwind) before he tucks in for the loop. Looking at you photo its hard to tell if you have beared away enough?http://www.continentseven.com/spinloop-amado-vrieswijk-2/
We're getting some mild conditions for the next few days, should be good to try a few more. In conditions normally powered in bigger waves I'm still hesitant. What a tough sport!
A few tries since then slowly improving but not getting around quite yet.
This was from a few days ago, since then I realized that I need not to wait for downwind ramps but make my own by stomping hard on my back foot and lifting up my front hand. Trying this made my jumps look more like loops than sideways jumps.
