Kauli's cutbacks impress me. Very tight but he carries the speed through it and back to the pocket. Very surfer-like.

Yeah, agree Kauli has such a nice style.

Definitely agree with you boys here. I reckon this sort of sailing is much easier on the eye, and also much more inspirational than those flick spinny rotational things that are more commonly presented on video these days...

That's Cabo Verde, but from the videos i've seen the rocks at Hookipia look pretty sketchy too.

Hookipa is a pretty intimidating spot if your're not an experienced local. I sailed it once, just to say I did. A narrow entry point with the rocks on the right and the cliff on the left.

I spent most of my runs trying to stay out of the way of the locals and sailing upwind to to avoid being washed down with the current. Very stressfull!

the rocks at hookipa are ok as there is a really deep channel with a current that pulls you away from them. you only end up there if it is really massive or your gear is already broken.

the wind is crazily offshore in some parts of that video! interesting to see how he cant make it down the wave easily and keep the rail in through the bottom turn because of the wind angle.

I haven't heard an explanation why Kauli's quad fish has never gone into production.

I am guessing the Quad Fish was shaped by Keith Teboul... while all JP boards are made by Werner Gnigler... Two different shapers with different philosophies.

No... I spoke to Kauli about that a few months ago and there is a very real possibility that it will be on shelves for 2013!

Its a custom design he's been developing for a few years now. Seems to me that his waveriding on it is ahead of everyone else.
