I have often heard that foot straps should be snug on the sides but loose on the top. I wear size 10.5 wide shoes but none of my foot straps feel snug on the side. Today on my Starboard Kode on the back strap I tried the front screw in the back of the front screw holes and the back screw in the middle of the back screw holes. It felt really good, I felt more connected with the board in jumps, and more confident. Anyone else doing this?

I’m the same shoe size and no way could I do that. You narrowed it by an inch is that right? That’s heaps. Most boards are 150mm spacing and SV does 160mm. Some Foiler’s like to go up to about 175mm

I cannot fathom going down to 125mm

If you have the little plates in the footstrap try and rotate them so they are closer in without having to change footstrap width, I'm the complete opposite to you though, I have mine fully spaced apart and the plates rotated for more room and they are still too tight so If anyone has suggestions for making them wider than the inserts I'd appreciate advice

Go to the next insert.

I measured the Kode and the standard distance for foot straps is 16 cm apart. In the row of 3 holes each hole is 2.5 cm apart, so using the middle hole at the back row and the back hole at the front row gives a distance of 13.5 cm. Probably a bit too tight, 14 cm would be better.

I found these online, will order some. Even so, only looks like it will narrow the foot straps by 2 mm each side, so not even 0.5 cm total. Any other brands that could narrow even more?

Even with the same shoe size, some folks have much narrower feet than others, so hard to compare.

If it felt good, you're probably on the right track. Just make sure you can bend your knee all the way to the board deck without your feet getting stuck or twisted in the straps to prevent major injury.

I also use different holes on the rear strap on my wave boards.

For children, women, and others with narrow feet, this is key otherwise the straps are way too wide which doesn't work and can be equally as dangerous as straps that are too narrow.

I have a JP single thruster 83, I have the foostraps on furthest apart and spacers on the more space way, got the issue of us16-17 feet so any strap seems tight apart from on the slalom boards.

Your straps being too tight could also be the thickness of the neoprene and stuff and how much they have been used. I recently updated from a more used set of JP straps to a less used but same type strap, while in theory it should feel tighter they feel like they have more space, probably because they are softer but it feels more like my foot is snug on the sides and stuff instead of just jammed into them, so that might be more of what you are looking for but I'm not 100% sure
