Currently sail a Goya gen 8 quad in 68l. I’m 130lbs, mostly sail in the gorge in Oregon, 2.5-3.4. I’m curious if anyone has experience with the new Goya gen 9 and how it sails in comparison to the Gen 8. The board has similar dimensions but looks like a very different shape. I sail the 68l, not a huge jumper and just riding the swells in the gorge.
any info is appreciated. Thanks.
Hi,
I have been sailing the custom quad 9 68 this year quite often- mostly strong onshore winds 30 +knots. Sails 3.1- 4.0. I am 73-74 kg- now maybe a bit heavier. The board is awesome. Period. Last year I was on a custom quad 8 74 l , same conditions, also a good board. But Goya's latest custom quads tops them in every way. I have never experienced lack of volume with the 68 l. It has blistering acceleration and is such a fun to ride. Your skills are your limit. With straps , fins and mast base- 6.5kg... Maximum sail size would be 4.2 imho, more than that will be clumsy I guess. I have also a 80 l custom quad 9, but to be honest after riding the 68 it doesn't feel too sexy to me. Hope this helps.
