I've got a Goya Quad 84 2015, and even I'm happy with it in side shore conditions, I would prefer to use it as trifin in onshore conditions. I tried a 2018 goya custom truster and I loved it.

I'm doubting about selling the quad and buying a thruster or inserting an additional centre us box for using as a thruster or trifin.

I've compared the dimensions of the quad 84 2015 board with the thruster 86 2018 board and they are exactly the same. I think Goya could have used the same shape and change only the fin boxes?

You looking for more drive when it's light? Surf sailing? I run a twin, don't plane as easily but it's fun on the wave.

By dimensions do you mean vee, rocker, concave, everything is identical? I doubt it. I'd be interested to know the variations

Anyway, regardless, I think its worth trying. You might transform it.....and if not then its no biggie just fill it up :)

Are you referring to the 2016 Quad? The 2015 doesn't have a swallow tail.

Hi. I finally tested the 2018 Goya thruster 86, and I confirm it's completely different from 2015 custom quad 84, even having the samegeneral dimmensions. 2018 thruster is much smaller and flatter than 2015 custom quad. Both surf very well. The thruster is more polivalent

I have a 5 box board which performs better as a quad in all conditions even after trying all sorts of thruster configurations.
So I'd say that you can't assume that going to a thruster will work better on a given board. It's much more about the shape than the fins.

No, i finally found a second hand Goya thruster . I forgot to say thruster 2018 construction is weaker than the 2015 quad one

Hi Mucel,

When you get the chance we'd be very keen to hear about your comparison of these 2 boards. I've been using the 2015 custom quad for years and still really love it (esp the 104l version which is remarkably capable for its size). I'm surprised that the 2018 construction is not as good; I thought that Goya & Quatro were really on top of this. How are they different?

Sorry for the delay, I miss receiving a warning of posts in this forum. I already gave some tips before. In summary, I like both boards. Both turn tight and surf well. Maybe the 2015 Quad is more playful, sometimes too much. The 2018 thruster is more polivalent on shore and side shore conditions, the quad is definitely better for side shore. The 2018 thruster 86 has much less voulme than the 2015 84 quad, which spoilt a little bit my boards distribution. The 2018 is flatter.

The transport made some damages to the truster 2018, was a second hand board with not much use but a lot of dings. My 2015 quad resisted beats against rocks.

I would like to have the polivalence of the 86 thruster with the volume and strength of the 84 quad.

I tried two years ago the thruster 2018 81 and I liked more than the 86, better located in its therotical volume level.
