those are some pretty fat numbers! my p3 loses the ability to make any real ground into the wind at about 18 knots. the p3s top speed is 35 kmh which equates to around 20 knots. i would have thought not a snowballs chance in hell at flying in 35 knots. the inspire can handle it all however.
Not entirely sure what it means but the guy in the shop where I bought it said it had "the new motors" on it. The manual that came with it says safe to fly up to 25 knts. I flew it in 20 knts with 29 knts measured gusts. It held it's ground but would only fly at about 0.5 m/sec into the wind when the big gusts hit. Also flew it at Corros in about 25 to 30 knts with some higher gusts. There was serious drift happening in the bigger gusts. Decided not to fly it out over water.
I still think it might be able to handle 35 knt gusts if you take off upwind with an emergency option to bail out and land somewhere downwind. I found that when you go up to about 80+ meters the seabreeze isn't quite as strong allowing you to fly back upwind.
The biggest concern I would have about big gusts is that it will simply flip it upside down resulting in the motors shutting off and the entire rig crashing to the ground or in the ocean... not that it would make any difference.
Agree that the Inspire would be able to handle more wind... albeit at more than triple the price.
