Wife wants to go. Cheaper these days. Is there any decent spots?

Not sure if there's a season for wind. I went on a surf trip for a couple of weeks over their summer. Never have I seen such a windless place. It was surreal. And all day long as well. I guess the absence of a big land mass makes even a seabreeze impossible.

Good for surfing but I never once even contemplated a sail.

Two years ago in July, I ended up here for a week .... www.maldives.holidayinnresorts.com/

Windsurfing gear was average and wind was about 5-10 knts each day ... apart from a monsoon style 10 min gust of 15 knts on one day.

Looked decent for surfing.

Generally one resort per coral island so you end up paying hotel prices for every meal & drink.

I would be trying to switch to an ION club in Mauritius .. same ocean at least!?

Checkout The Perfect Wave company. They have a kite sailing resort somewhere I think its in the Central Maldives section.

We stayed at Kandooma a few years ago and there are a couple of waves that would be good for sailing if the got a bit of wind. Kandooma right when it is small or Riptides could be worth a look.

There are some months during our winter where the wind is stronger and more consistent.

Look at Madagascar as well.... wind nukes. Not as glamorous though.
