PC. Assuming waves...

SE Currumbin is great. Can launch from creek
but I have found beachfront is easier and go
downwind past the rock. Can be patchy on
the inside & always surfers there so keep a
respectful distance and no problem. Long waves if the swell is up.

Duranbah also a good option, although SSE probably more ideal as SE a little onshore. Packed with surfers but if decent swell can catch waves well offshore or in the middle. I have sailed a few times there and also sail way out near the river.

Straight southerly is prob more unusual for summer but flat rock Ballina is the spot.

If you get a NE go to Kingscliff (south side) which is a little onshore or Hastings Point, cross shore.
NE tend to be a little stronger in northern NSW.
