Can anyone who's camped up there before tell me which campsite is the way to go? There's a few options.

Was looking at this one http://www.coffscoastholidayparks.com.au/woolgoolga-beach-caravan-park but that's not the beach where the comp is (I think...)

Anthony (and others),

There is no accommodation close to the event site (Flat Top) so most people stay in the town at Woolgoolga which is about 10-15 minutes drive. People typically hire a house, an apartment, stay at the clean and comfy Diggers Rest Motel or stay in the campsite on the beach front. The campsite is great - especially for the early morning surfs! An added advantage is there are about five coffee shops within five minutes of the campsite!

It can be hard to find the actual competition sites - there are two depending on the forecast of a North or South wind. Further details will be posted closer to the date.

Can't wait to get back up there - it's an amazing part of NSW!

Hopefully see you all there!

I will be camping at the caravan park on the beach . Will be there from wednesday to Wednesday. May pay you to book a site as it can be crowded over the long weekend. Hope the wind blows all week!

THere is also a nicer camp ground just 2 minutes past the town camping ground. Take the road next to the coffee shop on the main street that runs parallel between the lagoon/swamp and the main beach. Wharf street turns into Lake road to find Lakeside Caravan Park. Is got more trees and generally quieter. And on Thursday there is a free sausage sizzle for all residents - don't ask me how I know this except that a mate and I stayed for a few days and a few of the old dears who live in the park gave us a personal invitation!

There is also a caravan park near the pub. We camped in our cars at this one last year. Did not book just turned up. Good toilets and showers. I can recommend the disabled shower. After breaking my foot on the Saturday the extra room and seat made washing possible with the plaster cast

Try Northern Beaches Motor Inn
53 Pacific Hwy
Woolgoolga NSW 2456
(02) 6654 1424
Wayne is the friendliest guy and has about 6 rooms available from $70 pn mainly for couples or singles. Its within walking distance to the pub and unlike many operators he's not raising his prices for the long weekend.

cheers
Tim
