It's not a Windsurf topic but I thought I try it this way..
As a foreigner I want to buy a campervan in Sydney and sell it in Perth..
What I have to look for?
What is the best, easiest way to get a campervan(I know some pages like gumtree, carmarket sydney?...)? What is greenslip?
Can I take the plate over?
What is a Rego=Registration?
Can I take it over? How can I extend it?
Insurances to make?
Any other tips?
Thank you very much
cheers,..from a swiss windsurfer

In NSW, the yearly registration consists of a greenslip which covers injury to third parties, a registration tax, and a 'pink slip' registration check. You will only need the greenslip, the pink slip, and to pay the registration tax, if you renew the registration.
You are supposed to provide a pink slip when selling a car, but the buyer and seller can waive this if they want to.
To transfer a vehicle into your name, you need to pay a stamp duty (tax) on the market value of the vehicle, and then they place the registration in your name. Other than the (optional) pink slip and the stamp duty charges, there is nothing else required to transfer the registration.
You 'should' get a minimum of Third Party insurance, which covers damage to other property/cars. If you don't and damage something, you are liable for the costs.
To renew a NSW registration when it is about to expire requires you to have a pink slip issued from a NSW inspection station, pay the greenslip price, and then pay the registration fee.
If you intend to travel to WA from NSW around this period, unless you want to drive it back to NSW for the inspection, you need to get a pinkslip first. They are valid for 1 month I think, so conceivably you could get it a month before the registration is due and then use it for the renewal.
There are companies that buy and sell cars to travelers like yourselves, and will buy back your vehicle at a set price, but I don't know anymore about them.
