Just looking at vehicle hire options for a trip up the coast and whilst Lancelin and Gero look like they are on main roads any further north and it looks like off road dirt tracks that will require an off road vehicle rather than a Toyota Hi-Ace camper type hire van?

Thanks

It can be done, but you are getting way too late for Gnaraloo by the time you are here. I reckon stick with Lano and Gero

That's a shame as I really wanted to go there. Does the summer wind season end earlier the further north you go?

^^ yes starts earlier and kinda ends earlier.

Gnaraloo will still have some wind but 1 day a week not 4 or 5 ............ 45degC and chance of cyclones..... and no waves.

^^ and masses of flies from dawn until dusk in the height of summer. Jan/Feb its Gero if you want wind + heat, margs if you want amazing waves and to surf when its not windy. But margs can get heavy easily with a decent pulse of swell, so if you not that up to it, Gero is the go for sure.

Haha flanagaj............

You should know better than to listen to those blokes, Gnaraloo is that good they just want to keep it for themselves.

The wind is here and will be until Feb/March pretty much everyday. The waves come and go but there is usually something.

You can get in in a 2WD no worries just let your tyres down a little and take it steady

^^^^^What GBoss said.

Would def recommend getting hold of a compressor.

People with no compressor tend to do one of the following:
Not let their tyres down - damages tracks, makes driving very uncomfortable, gets you punctures
Let their tyres down a little bit - as above, and then drive on under-inflated tyres to the nearest garage (dangerous).

Agreed, and take an extra spare wheel
And maybe a tube just in case you get a flat that is past plug stage....but could be limped back to carnarvon if you had a tube. Somebody will have tyre levers

Don't forget though you will be breaking your hire agreement with a HiTop camper.
