Melville water is a large area and the wind strength varies a lot in different parts. Does anyone know where the seabreeze windmeter is?
(or is it a secret so stupid vandals don't do nasty things to it?)

Last official location was on the "dolphin" pylon in the middle of the river between Pelican Point & Point Majestic .. although its location may have changed .. it was more at risk from yacht booms constantly knocking it off, rather than vandals...

Thanks.
Now I'm curious as to what a dolphin pylon is.
The pylon part is self explanatory of course. Does it have a picture of a dolphin on it or something?

i know it used to be located on inner dolphin which is the white stick with a red square shape on top which marks the port side of a channel, when travelling upstream(lateral mark i think) at the end of peli pt
as far as i know there are only 2 named 'dolphin ' in this part of the river
but recently the rumor has the wind gauge over near majestics bank.
there is(or was recently) a gadget there with all sorts of instruments on it.
inner dolphin still has instruments on it as well. these occasionally got smashed by passing yachts.see the attached pic for aprox locations.

it would be good for one to be closer to peli point so you would know the acual windspeed were people go

There is a green and white channel marker just off (NW of) Majestic Pt - on that sand bar in Snides picture (a few hundred metres west of Snides assumed location). There is a little windy-mill thingo and lots of cables and stuff there... Is this it???

It was on the inner Dolphin post. Yachties got blamed for damage all the time but often one would see large pelicans on the Dolphin posts and to me they would be the more likely candidates. Some years ago the weather guys moved it to Magestic point and the Melville graphs were crap for a while (angle and strength). When I talked to them about a year ago they said they had moved it back to the outer dolphin.
