So guys,
im just about back into the wavesailing after a GOOD 10 years off, bought some well priced gear and about to get into things this summer.

So the question is - who else has done this? wot should i expect?
front loops on day one?

seriously, if youve done this please tell me what you found, is it like riding a bike?

...............................................or not

Cheers,
Heretic

ps - still need a mast anyone got a bargain 2 piece?

I had a ten year break in my sailing.
I was never into waves, just flatwater but I guess it's similar.
It is somewhat like riding a bike, you remember a lot - the things that become instinctive like sail control and balance are still there - skills eg tacking and jibing were quite rusty and took some practice to get back. I imagine waveriding becomes second nature so you'll probably have no problem there but the jumps will need work.
Fitness will take time to build up of course.

It is well worth getting back into.
I have no regrets

I started back last year after a 18 year break...

1. first thing i noticed was that my mind wanted all small gear like i used to ride but my body didint seem to agree for some reason...

2. the basics were still all there but windsurfing fitness took a little while to build...

3. gear has changed heaps

4. i think by the end of this summer i'll be just about back to where i was when i left off...

good luck, enjoy, and never forget how much you love doing it

No windsurfing videos on there?

I love the background pics with the sharks and fish.
Couldn't watch the video. Too violent. (Sorry David)
Not suitable for veterinarians either.

No windsurfing videos on there?Waiting to get my Gopro HD

I love the background pics with the sharks and fish.Seen a few noahs diving this year - some really big packs and a lot of Bronzies and a few Tigers up north. No whites so far touch wood
Couldn't watch the video. Too violent. (Sorry David)Opps my bad soz
Not suitable for veterinarians either. I promise we only take what we can eat and "shoot" the rest on film aka we could have taken the shot but chose not to and instead enjoyed the company and memories on the confuser

Soz yea should have put a warning up saying NO WINDSURFING vids only diving and spearing ( from memory a couple open with NSFV - not suitable for vegans etc) Really is a bit of a P1$$ take of us having fun when there is no wind!!

ok, first bump n jump shake down cruise done this arvo.

so the verdict for anyone interested?..... it IS like riding a bike, had a hour and a bit in grovely partly underpowered conditions. took a little bit to fine tune the harness and straps, but there it was....the joy of windsurfing. deja vous, i guess if you do something so much for a long time it becomes muscle memory maybe. board fitness lacking though.

i will definately need a 5.7 and some waves VERY SOON !!

I would imagine it is alot like being away from sex for a while.
1. You will never ever forget the basics
2. Your first time out will not go for as long as you would like.
3. You will tell your mates that you went for hours
4. You will most likely think you are alot better than you actually are.
5. And when its over you will have un uncontrollable urge to go to sleep but at least you will have a grin on your face.
