What happened with Gong is that jumping put a lot of stress on the junction of the male insert of the fuz entering the wing.
The average Gong customers were not jumping in the early years, but it changed...

Also, carbon is very bad in handling repetitive stress, as some Titanic-exploring submarine had spectacularly demonstrated :-)

This is why Gong now advise people who want to jump to avoid carbon and get a metal fuz: either alu or better, titanium.

Basically, if you are going to stress your gear, be very wary of carbon limited life, with no visible warning when its structural integrity is degrading. You can read about spectacular explosions of carbon pieces in racing, either cars, bikes, boats, ...

The same happened with paddles. Early carbon paddles could nominally tolerate SUP action, but in practice broke easily after some time, this is why now they are beefed up significantly (making them 30% heavier now than the early ones) to extend their life span.
