Currently I am on a one foil quiver, the V2 1550 which is fine for all the sup foiling I do, but for winging in 10-15 knots with a 5 m wing, I can get on foil occasionally.
The winds will get stronger in summer, then, I probably won't need an 1850. Just getting a little edgy waiting for the season to change.
How much extra lift do you get out of an 1850?

1850 is my low wind foil. It is pretty amazing how slow it will go before dropping. Noticeably different than the 1550V2

After hearing about a fatal shark attack in my old stomping grounds not that far south of my current abode, sticking to one wing and choosing my sessions based on quality might be wiser.

My two wings are 1250 and 1850. The 1850 is my daily driver, as typical days are 10-12 knots. I've ridden the 1850 in 30 knots on a trip when it was all I owned. Its a good wing, that can dependably used in a wide range of conditions. A buddy who weighs close to my weight has the 1550 v2 likes it. I've noticed when we use similar size hand wings, it takes him longer to get up. We both have 75 L sinker boards, so winging in lite winds can be difficult. Personally I prefer sacrificing some speed for ease in pumping to get going.

I sold my 1850 and bought a 1550v2 instead for the lowest of winds, up until it's nuking enough to use my 1250. I learned on the 1850 and still love that foil, it's fast and slippery for its size. But once I became better at pumping up to get on foil, I didn't see myself using the 1850 anymore if I also had the 1550v2 in my quiver, so I sold it.

Agree that the 1550v2 is closer to the 1250, but it's definitely got a higher low end than the 1250. The 1850 of course has even lower low end, but with good pumping technique the 1550v2 can also be used in low winds.

If winds will get stronger in summer, definitely stick to the 1550v2 and focus on improving pumping technique I'd say.

This is my personal experience, I also know people who hold on to their 1850 bc it's so easy to get up and going.

i'm about 90kgs, have 2400, 1850, 1250. i don't find i use the 2400 anymore, really doesn't give me anything over the 1850, and the 1850 is much more fun. the 1250 i rarely use because we just don't get that much wind. the 1250 drops if i'm schlogging, the 1850 can almost come to a complete stand still and remain up. Was going to get the 1550 before i ended up with the 1250, but a friend told me too much overlap with the 1850, so went 1250 instead. the 1850 gets 95% of my water time.
