Soon Laurie will just rename this group “Parawing Foiling” after the wings disappear from the market.

This place would be pretty quiet if not for parawings, embrace the revolution.

I have noticed the chatter has slowed right down on the foiling pages 😬probably could just have one forum titled foils at this rate.

they won't. at least, not anytime soon. many of us do not like PWing.i was so happy to get away from bars and lines when winging came out.

I think it was the head of Cabrinha who recently said that if they had to allocate resources 80/20 that parawing would have 80% of their focus and winging 20%. It's hard for me to argue against pw being the future after hearing that.

My vote would be to keep PW within the winging forum.

I think this is relevant. I agree that all chatter has slowed. Hype train feels like it has reached the end of the tracks.

This old chestnut comes up all the time.

My 2c has not changed agree to keep it as is, many still para and wing. Use Active Topics to filter what you want.

Laurie, if you’re watching, I wonder whether there might be an opportunity to rethink how the forum is structured. Perhaps we could bring all threads together into one main section, covering wingfoiling, parawinging, windsurfing, SUP, travel, etc., and allow users to filter posts by their preferred topics. That way, everyone could tailor the forum to their own interests while still having the flexibility to explore other topics whenever they like. Just a thought, but it might be worth considering as a way to make the forum more accessible and useful for everyone.

Please not. Structure work fine and using Filters to find ur thing is bad UI.

Yeah I say combine the sup foil and winging forums. The sup foil forum is way too quiet. Separating out winging and parawing will just make for less traffic on both.

For the people that want more winging content post more stuff about winging. It’s a user generated forum so post what you’re interested in!

Agreed. And I like being able currently to see in a matter of seconds if there is anything new in any forum by scrolling the list. I’d have to have 14 favourites which just gives me a list just like the existing forum list minus a few so what’s the point?

Can have a tag called "latest" or "new", which would display the latest post regardless of category.

Still not as efficient (for me anyway) as scrolling a list of all forums and seeing no posts since yesterday in any of them, so move on to forecast and back to work. 10sec.

The windsurfing and kiting forums have multiple subforums and have worked well for many, many years. I like being able to browse through my subforum area of interest and ignore the ones I’m not into.

I think parawinging should be moved to the kitesurfing/foiling section. It is just a short line kite after all and is not related in anyway to winging except for a common board/foil base.

You couldn’t be more wrong. A lot of us have replaced the wing in the waves as well - basically using it for the same purpose.

Quite a few comments have raised concerns about losing quick access to individual forum topics. The proposed change could address this without affecting those who prefer the current structure. ie Windsurfing, Kiting, Surfing etc.
Simply add a Favourites subheading under Forum, where users can select their preferred topics. All existing headings remain unchanged, giving everyone the best of both worlds.
Just a thought, but this could meet the need raised in the original post without disrupting anyone’s preferred setup.

If I sign on with any regularity, I might have to scroll down half a page at most to skim through new posts. I guess it's never occurred to me this was a problem. Admittedly I don't wing much anymore... but I'm still interested... there are lots of posts that cross-pollinate regarding foils, boards, leashes, locations/conditions etc.

There was a time when I was obsessed with surfing, then windsurfing, mainly before Seabreeze bacame a regular haunt, then kiting (hence the username) , then sup, then winging, then downwind foil, then Parawing.
Do whatever you feel like Laurie, no doubt I will still waste countless hours scrolling, wouldn’t have it any other way.😂

Winging and pwing share so much in common in the way of equipment and even technique. They share nothing in common with kiting equipment.

Suck it up wingers. 😛

Most parawingers have come from winging and might still even offer the winger some good advice and not just hurry up and see the light.

I don’t think this goes far enough, as it still relies on the existing forum topics. TBH I don't expect thsi will go any where:) It would be far more user-friendly if we could create our own favourites by selecting topics such as surfing, parawing, downwind and holidays for example, regardless of how the forum is structured. The search function might already allow this, but would we need to specify those interests every time rather than save them as personal preferences?
