It’s good. Really good. Only drawback that I can think of, besides a small weight penalty (and cost), is that small medium aspect foils are more sensitive and requires the A game while riding DW and carving aggressively - upwind no problem.


When going DW, and you get halfway up or higher on the mast, it feels like warp speed. Literally feels like a 20% reduction in drag. The acceleration when needed is always there. Need to slow down a bit? Just bury the mast.


The titanium’foot’ is just wild. It is 90 degree connection the size of an iPhone. Pictures don’t do it justice. No drawn out fillets needed. The wings fit snug and perfectly.

I’m super stoked on it. So much so that I just got a Tuttle 85 SR and a F4 Emona. The SR is just so radical, I feel like it deserves a Tuttle. I’m waiting on wind to test it out. If that goes well, I’ll be selling the 80SR and 85AX plate masts.

I've been enjoying the Emona 75L and the 85SR Tuttle mast! After a few B and C rated condition sessions, one thing really popped out to me. The Hammerhead 585 is just wild with the SR. The term 'Magic Carpet' gets thrown around with these F4s, but this is by far the closest match to that description. The thin AR and thin mast really allows for rapid movement on all axis in the lower speed range. I haven't had it out in any large conditions, just 4M and 5M parawing conditions with tide against wind, waist high bumps. I know it's not designed for 'bay' bumps, but I was having an absolute blast one session. The new sensation that I got is hard to describe. Imagine running down a swell line like you would surf a wave, but instead of just chilling and doing a cutback at the end of the line, I was actually pumping in an up/down the face manner, like you would be surfing a wave to build speed. The surfing body mechanics just locked in and I was like, 'what the hell! I'm really surfing down the line!' After the 'S carves' to build speed, i was just rolling it on rail and cutting back as hard as I could - board in the water and all. No problem then switching back the same direction I was going on a dime. Almost like hacks. Time will tell if this was just those ideal Blue Square type conditions that allowed for pushing, or if it will allow that kind of pushing in Black Diamonds - where I'm thinking it may like to straighten out more with the uptick in speed and energy.

The 85CM mast length takes some getting used to with the SR, but I'm definitely using every bit of the length trying to surf as hard as I can.
