I had issues with GoFoil connection with foils all a different fit. Some too tight some too loose so lots of time wasted fettling away to get a stiff connection. Lots of cracking at the mast fuse connection with one breakage at that point (warranty). Travel was a PITA with the mast/fuse monoblock. V2 mast needs to be way way back so only a narrow range of boards are compatible. The GoFoil foils if you choose the right one work well, there are lots of different ones out there.
AFS connection is rock solid, and the mast is very stiff. Not as reef proof as GoFoil but still solid with everything made from UHM carbon with M8 mounting hardware. I also like the use of slots on the plate so movement from one board to another is simple without extra washers GoFoil use. For me AFS Silk and Enduro foils are a major step up from GoFoil, but you pay for it. Heaps of great value S/H GoFoil setups in Oz atm, awesome start up kit.
Sounds like gen 1.5 issues. Agree, though, once a brand goes sour for you, it's hard to recover. Especially when they haven't produced anything groundbreaking for 2 years now! Don't know how many times people see my V2 mast shoved to the back of the box and comment I should try it more forward like their (Code, Armstrong, Uni...) I just bought a closeout F-one midlength and forgot to check the box. It came with 10" boxes and center hole. Might be the nail in the coffin if I can't get it to work...
For those of you unfamiliar, Gofoil V2 is about 2" further back on the fuse and their foils are very front footed. Great if you are used to old school foils. And I feel the rearward mast gives something to pivot off of for non foiling top turns. But pretty much unusable on a lot of short prone boards as your back foot will be infront of the mast and your paddle will have your pop up hands on the nose of the board...
