73CM UHM Mast finally arrived. What a pleasant surprise after waiting since Fall of 25. Def less drag, going to be fun for trash bag and DW. But loved it in the surf, def could tell I was getting snappier turns on my SF830 and 680. Didn’t wear my watch but it was feeling faster as well on jumps and broad reaches. Pretty much the same results that people are feeling on lots of UHM’s.

Just an update. I knew the mast felt more nervous but after wearing the watch a couple of runs the Mast is def 1.5-2 knots faster. Hard to be precise and sail exactly the same especially in waves but it was pretty obvious. My turns are also tighter

The 142 will give you more glide, the 145 more pump and turning. Either will spice things up from the 178.

I'm on the S145v2 and the S122 with both those foils, mix between 60/70 fuse. Have not even considered putting a larger stab back on. 145 for pump and carving, 122 for pump and glide, although it does reduce the low end a little bit for take-off, once up though it stays up. If I could only have one - S145 all day.

Ordered the S145 over the weekend. Looking forward to trying it out later this week. Also glad to hear it might pair well with both the 930 and 680. Appreciate the replies ! Hard to get much info on the north foils

I recently bought the S178v2 to replace the S178 (v1) . I pair it with my all time favorite MA850v2.
It's horrible! really, the V2 is incredible unstable, hard to control when you push it a bit. Really disappointing.. in chop or in waves its even worse.
I quickly switched back to the V1,

I read good things about the S145v2, do people use it with the MA series? since its officially a surf stabilizer?

Its really sad nothing new gets released by north, foil wise..

I was considering buying a secondhand s178 to cut down and try , but then i had the opportunity to get the newer s158 v2 very Loose
i mostly pair it with the 850 mav2 or the 600 mav2 ,(when windy enough for my 3.5mt wing ) but lately have been loving winging with
the Dw 750 / s158 v2 or the s142 glide stab but if the wind is light just swapping out the stab for the s208 or the s178 makes a big difference
in low wind takeoff ..ps i find the dw750 lifts off earlier than the 850 mav2...... lightweight @60 kg.....

Current gen HA series is on sale 20% off so new new must be dropping soon. Who has the info?

Had a first go on the S178v2 tail. Really nice combo with my favorite frontwing ; MA850v2. Getting a bit more glide out of the 850v2 now. The tail feels a bit more alive compared to the v1. Really nice.

For more glide I would’ve gone w the 142…great stab like the S145.

Has anyone tried 600mm fuse with DW foils ? Up to now i used 700 for DW1400 and 650 for 1100 and 820. I have recently sold 700 fuse as part of the kit and i want to buy another one so i have two kits for quick swap. Would you go for 600 or better get the proven 700. i mostly ride DW wings, rarely SF...
Im also thinking of geting another stab... im mostly using S142, and S192 only for DW1400. Both feel a bit dragy to me. Has anyone tried S122 or pair it with different stab ?

I have tried 650 with DW1400 and works very well. I have a feeling it is easier to pump, thou i have to adjust it more like Shlogger said. I feel like i have to increase cadence but dont have push as much so i can cover greater distance pumping in lulls... So 700 is dead to me... now the question is to ether buy the same 650 or to go with 600 for windier days.
I also notice someone on youtube using DW820 in combination with S158 stabilizer. Has anyone tried that ?

I used the SF1080 and SF830 with S215/C700 on the way. The waves we get here are always wind driven and the power is often in the lower range for SF. The dw820 turns very well and suits our conditions better in that sense. What I do miss, and this might be just my skill holding back, is the more surf stile powerful bottom turn from the back foot that I can do with the SF830 (imagining its a bigger wave than it is :-). I come from Kiting on surfboard. Opinions shared are usually linked to their home conditions and riding stile. If North comes with a breed of SF and DW I think they will be on the money for me, but I don't think DW is outdated. It is underestimated!

Agreed. I ride the SF680 mostly, it’s still a good surf foil, but…3 years plus for an update? There are some great surf foils out there now by other brands? Hoping they release by AWSI otherwise I’ll have to add or jump brands for my foils.

There isn't any comms on what might or could be coming whereas every other foil company is looking to what is next and selling that innovation and investment. I agree, DW, SF and MA all underestimated foils, all the ingredients there for v2's, just gotta hope they invest.

I jumped ship a year ago on the foil side. The Sonar system gave me loads of progress and pleasure! Thanks Mike, Uli, Hugh and the team behind the Sonar! Thanks for not just giving us a system but also carefully 'in person' bringing it to us! And engage with us how to use, what the product was for..how to pack, setup etc! Still use their v3 and v4 nova wings (probably not the best in the world but they work fine)

For me the real shocker is the lack of Comms. Instagram admin is doing his / her best to recycle images. But there is no intro of who's now leading and who are the product dev and design team. With all other foil brands we know who's behind the product and development. Sure we heard that the South African ex Airrush & AK guy came on board. I'm sure he'd like to talk and tell where the ship is going now. One of the nicest fellas.

Whoever is above him - the new CEO who dismantled the entire NZ operation - hasn't got a clue how this small intimate foil business works and doesn't see the need for the product & dev team to be out there engaging with us. Probably following a different industry culture and style .. probably thinks that its about what you present to customers instead of what + who. Who's the new CEO by the way? Anyone know?

Let's see who turns up at AWSI to speak to podcasters and vloggers. If they fail to make an impression I then really hold my breath

To put it politely, the DW1400 was ‘special’ 😂 so special it was hard to ride. Still, North did a decent job with the Rover parawing, which rides great. The bar isn’t anything special and has a design flaw around the holes (abrasion of the pigtails) but otherwise it’s decent.

I think the DW1400,C700,S142,UHM80 is an absolute perfect low end machine in the 8-10kn days. UHM80 is a bit faster than UHM85 and nice for a bit of pump. I take my time in the turns so width of the foil to length of the mast is not a problem. You can get "locked in" on a turn and feel you are not getting out of it. I think that is because you are not one with the mast and instead are trying to drive it. I low it.

Fair enough. I agree the UHM masts made a massive difference, and actually improved my foiling loads. It is a great mast. Maybe the DW1400 was just not for me, but I haven't seen that many people or videos sing its praises. And when you get volumes of feedback and stoke from people in the forums about a particular foil, I think that sends a signal that something is working. Haven't seen that enthusiasm for the DW series, but I have seen it for the SF and MAs.

I think we’re seeing that across most brands…seems the trend now is to make DW foils that that are also fun to get your surf style on as well. I’m down w that. ;)
