Do not launch at Kyeema, run too short. Try launching at Henson st. and the Grand pde. end.There is a ramp there. Much better and longer run towards the end of the runway. Some chops and swell to ride.
La Perouse is good as well. Much bigger swell and similar length. Depends on what angle the southerly is.
180 to 190 degree, Kyeema better. Less than 180 degree, La Perouse. Hope this helps.

Kyeemash and La Perouse are both good in southerly, depending on what you are looking for here are the considerations:

* Depending on the ocean swell direction, La Perouse gets those big rolling swells that enter the bay. The waves can even create a break off Bare island and some skillful folks like to foil their.
* The wind bumps are usually bigger in Kyeemagh in southerly unless the wind has some west in it (which will make La Perouse bumps better). This always depends on fetch, looking at the map and the wind direction will show where the bumps are better.
* Parking can be a big problem in La Perouse on a good sunny week-end, Kyeemagh almost always has parking.
