I was winging upwind on it in Karpathos for my DW runs when I was testing it. You can pull some serious angles upwind because of the low speed you can maintain, I was on a 3m wing too. The catch 22 with light wind winging, is you need to fast to build up apparent wind, I generally prefer using the 1240 or even the 1040 for light wind winging back and forth and use a DW board to get up. But if you're planning to tour upwind in ultra light stuff, it might be a good option. But also be wary of the span.

I prefer the HA1440 for light wind winging. Tried one of my pump wings, PNG1300 but the span and wider tips didn't suit winging, was difficult to control and you needed to really concentrate on turns otherwise it would throw you off.
The 1440 is much easier and a real pleasure to ride. I don't like riding big DW boards, rather be on my 74ltr with the 1440 where I can get going in 10knots, I'm 80kgs.

Just back from a 10 knot session, practicing heel and toeside tacks, the 1440 just keeps gliding through the turns.

I didn't do measurements of the new stab, but when held against the S26/27 the shape, including the upturned winglets, is very similar except the small 'lump' at the back near the screw hole, is straighter on the new one.
It did feel a bit lighter, so maybe it's a bit thinner too.

Has anyone heard of a release date yet of either the pump foils or the stabs? Are they being released together?

This video is on the old 1800HA. I've not seen any videos of the new 1840HA - but if it's doable on the old HA it should definitely be doable on the new one.

I assume this is JB in the video? If so he may well have tried the 1840 as well

The new 1840 is really quite easy comparatively to the Legacy 1800. The 1440 is probably the most fun to paddle up, but it is not easy, I could never Paddle Up the legacy 1400, but have pretty consistent success on the 1440. The 1240 is not easy, it takes tenacity to get your hull speed up to where I can fly my 92kg of human. The 1040 is insanely hard for me, but I have done it twice, felt like I was paddling for ever! But I have done it! If I was going to try and compare, I'd say the New HA's paddle up like a size bigger at least from the legacy foils.

Now, moving forwards, the Glider HA will change everything. I am yet to get the production foils, but the sample 1400 I have is pretty powerful, but a little slow as it is not the section that is actually used (which are much thinner and faster).
If you all promise not to share, here is a video of me doing pump practice on the 1400 Glider working on technique, no length goals or anything, but just feeling things out. (was trying a new mount and also trying my shokz headphones as microphones, a little too much wind noise).

The Glider is really easy to addle up, again like a sive bigger in the new HA line, and thus equivalent to maybe 2 sizes bigger in the legacy. I am really looking forwards to riding the production 1800 Glider HA, I think this will be a flatwater beast! But do not discount the 1840HA, it paddles up super easy as does the 2140HA, and they both turn amazing for their size, and are surfable. The Glider's like other pump foils, are limited in their turning.

This is all very preliminary and not production, once I get the production foil(s), I think they'll be significantly more impressive!!

Yes, this is the 125L. I love that board. I used it in the Northern Beaches DW race also. So many are put off by the 25" width, but I love it. Honestly I am usually the first up on foil and not what I would call slow. I came 6th in a fleet of 47 with the likes of James Casey, Oskar Johansen, Zane Westwood, Josh Ku, Dave Kissane and many other gun DW names.

I can't wait for the offical launch of these foils along with many other things, there is soo much really exciting and big things in the pipeline with Naish

No way the current fuselage design would be usable on these wide span wings, the wings would crack.

Says who? Just look for example at the fuselage of sabfoil leviathan 1750. That one has an even wider wingspan and the same fuselage as all the other wings.

And even if that's the case, it's imho still not the smartest move to introduce two fuselages for the same generation. No other company has this as far as I know.

A lot of pre-release excitement/angst escalating. All will be revealed on Friday.

Firstly a few things answered in preparation.
- Yes there is a specific Glider Fuselage to better house the huge spans on the Glider HA foils. Whilst this is not ideal, it is hugely beneficial. I know other brands are trying to support their spans with narrow Fuse to Foil connections, but in reality, you need more! The amazing Naish Scarf Joint is still part of this new connection, but now with wings spreading out and the additions of 2 more bolts. It is soo incredibly stiff now even on the big 130cm foil span.
- The New High Modulus mast will also release. Like most brands, the ever increasing spans of foils requires further stiffening of the framework, and HM is highly welcomed but not essential. The HM mast, whist stiffer in side bend, mainly boasts an significant increase in torsional stiffness, this is what most of you are feeling when riding big foils.
- 2D Rear wings. Not sure about goofy looking, but these new tails are pretty special IMO. They are primarily designed with Winging in mind, faster and slipperier but somehow delivering more power per size. The HA rears are still more directional tracky, but if you looking to free things up, the 2D's will impress you.
- The Glider line is not intended to replace the current HA line. The foils have a more aggressive section, and boast incredible efficiency in their mid range, the HA line is still faster and turn more aggressively, but glide for pump, the Glider is freakishly easy. Obviously with the span turning is lessor than the HA's, but the 1400 in particular in the Glider is still quite nimble.

I have been riding all the above now for some time. I can say in light DW condition I am easily holding a 2:40 pace on the 1400 Glider, and had some 12km runs at 2:35 pace. The rears have amazed me with the 160 fastly becoming my favourite rear even over my KD Marlin 15" and KD race tails. Ease and efficiency is on both gliders is crazy, with an estimated 15% reduction on excretion without even trying. Yesterday I did some flatwater paddle ups on the lake and easily managed a 610m flatwater pump on fresh water on the 1800 Glider, probably could have gone much longer, but I am recovering from Covid from last week and didn't want to work hard. I will be popping this up on video as soon as the Glider launches.

All up, I am very excited by the launch of these items. I agree and am not stoked about adding another fuse, but it is well forth it in every way, and for the minor expense, makes an incredible advantage to the stiffness. As does the HM mast. The 2D tails are super sweet! I agree they maybe don't look like the "cool" shapes some of the other brands are going with, but from a technical and efficiency standpoint, they are outstanding (bit the how the the Spitfire wing outline is the most efficient ever made).

More on everything after launch, we have leaked some small quantities to some dealers in Aus already!! Numbers are limited though!! And I am not letting go of mine .

I hope this helps a little. Loving the new gear, everything has it's place, this is just further completing the Naish foil line.

Interesting. According to this chart the 1800 is heavier than the 1400, could be a typo ofc though.

I guess I'll skip this foil, but maybe I buy the stabilizer. Don't care about the look of it of course, it's just relevant that it works well. I hope they put out some information on which size to take for the HA wings.

I recently winged with the new 1800 Glider foil in light winds (5-10 knots) and only using a 5m wing..

It was amazing.. Sooo smooth and sooo much lift at such low speeds.. I was using the 100% carbon mast and it felt super stiff for such a wide span foil..
