Is it worth the coin upgrading from a Naish S26 mast (carbon35) and fuse to a S27 mast (carbon55) and fuse? I was going to go from a 75 to an 85cm but was also hoping the newer mast and fuse are a lot stiffer?

Come on. There has to be at least one other person out there riding Naish foils ???

It's worth updating. C26 masts had a lot of problems, both aluminum and carbon35.

Yes, it's a lot stiffer. The S27 together with the new fuse is a lot stiffer. I up graded from the S26 with the
carbon 35 / 85 mast to the aluminium S 27 / 85 mast a year ago.

I've had no problems with my S26 C35 mast @85cm. Haven't seen the need to update as yet.

The S27 connection is one of the best out there mechanically. It's solid and easily connects and disconnects. The carbon 100 mast is up there w the best as well in terms of thickness/chord ect. and stiffness. If you're a beginner and are not concerned about price, then get the AL mast but it is slower but just as stiff. I also ride other systems. If Naish comes out w a full Carbon fuselage, it would be one of the lightest out there. Have fun

My friend's mast with s26 aluminum fell off the base and the foil sank (then divers got it out). My s26 aluminum mast was bent at the base and was replaced under warranty. I have a s26 35% carbon mast, the base plate is not flat and there is a 2 mm gap when screwing it to the board. Another friend of mine has the same problem with a s26 35% carbon mast. I wrote to Nash by email, but received no response. The service is not at a good level.

Your Naish importer of your country must offer poor support. in Australia, JB at Windgenuity is brilliant and quickly fixes any issues over and above what is expected.
As previously said the S27 system is great, very rigid and excellent insulation between the carbon and the alloy fuselage. The new S28 C55 looks good too.

I contacted the store where I buy Neish equipment, but they could not answer me why the mast had uneven base plate and advised me to contact Neish directly.

Do you reckon the C55 is enough to make a difference?

My largest Naish foil is a 1240, but after having the C100 I'm not sure if i'll notice the fact it's less Carbon and regret not getting another C100 (I cracked my current one!).

I rode the S26 C35 masts winging and kitefoil, they worked great. Lashed out on S27 gear, went to 100% carbon. To be honest I didn't notice a huge difference though my biggest wing is the Mach1 900. The C55 can only be better than the C55, but enough to notice? I'm sure on the bigger wings like 1440 and up the 100% is more noticeable, and with big pump wing's coming the new HM mast $$$ will probably be mandatory.

Sounds like your shop is palming you off, it's actually their problem to contact Naish, not yours. That is why we purchase through a retailer and not directly from Naish.

Naish does have a full carbon fuselage with the Carbon Foil System. One piece front wing and fuse to mast.

And yes with the new fuse connection it is rock solid!!

Hi Valery, I am assuming you did not contact through Australia. I would like to think our CS is pretty good! If you need help channeling this through the correct chains, than DM me and we'll work through it, but depending on where you bought the item etc. I see you are in Israel, and am not familiar with the supply chain there.

In general the best first point on contact is the dealer from which you purchased your gear.

Kind regards,

JB

The biggest differences as you go up from C55 is the torsional stiffness. While there is side bend advantages for sure, the torsional stiffness especially on wider span foils is noticeable, but not a deal breaker as the C55 (and the C35 for that matter) are exceptional masts for the $$$. In fact as it was mentioned above the Alloy masts are incredible really. I do not agree that they are slow. They are lighter and comparable stiffness to the C35 in side bend, maybe a little less torsional though. But for Mach-1's or foils under 1000cm2 they are supurb, and for the bigger foils I think you will be surprised by their performance, especially for the $$$.

If you are riding in beach breaks or waves where there is potential to get caught up in breaking waves of shorey's, I suggest going to the composite masts. The Alloy is more than strong enough for its intended use, but put in situations where it is not designed to withstand may result in a bend - leashing out in the waves or shorebreaks or over edging behind a boat.

Ride safe,

JB

Hi JB. Thank you very much for your help with exchanging the mast under warranty. I received a s27 ??carbon 35 85 cm mast. And I would like to buy a 95 cm mast. At my local store I have available either the s27 carbon 35 or the new s28 aluminum masts. Same price. Which option is better in terms of rigidity, speed and reliability? Is 95 cm too much for an aluminum mast? I couldn't find any reviews about the new s28 aluminum masts.

From what I understand they are the same as the updated S27 mast but with a difference finish. So they have the stronger fuselage connection and the plastic top piece is bolted into place rather than glued (as per the early S27 Ali masts).

They are a great mast imo, light and strong. If you're not using wide span wings then they are a great option.
