My preference would have been for them to be a few inched longer. Like 4"-6" longer per size.

They're still thin? I've got the new 4'8" (58L) coming which is actually 1/4" thinner than the previous 60L

I think that numbers are the maximum thickness on the edges. But the thickness between the mast and foot was way less. The old model has a thickness of 11.4cm, but at the mast position, I just measured 9.5cm. On the old models, it is quite easy to measure as the handle goes through the board. Based on the pictures it looks like the difference between the edges and the place for your feet is no more such a difference. But it is just 2 pics and a short video clip.

Why longer? Short is great for freestyle, freeride and wave.

Better, but still a step behind. Still this ridiculous bathtub deck so those of us with larger feet have this sharp transition for the heels.
Excited about their new downwind foils though

A few inches longer wont be noticeable at the stated volumes. If the wind blows where I ride, it is choppy. Yes I drool over all these places in videos with higher winds and flatter waters but I dont have that. I have been riding a 7"0 65L naish prone foil board as my main wingboard and the extra length is great in the chop. I have the Armie 7'7 for lightwind stuff. I just want something a little more volume and a little less length. It looks like I will have to find a custom shape. I had a soapbar shape 5'1 and it was pain in the ass in chop. I think the new boards look great but my preference is different from where Armstrong went with these.

IMO any board that seats close to the surface will get pushed around by the chop. Less volume will have the board seating 2' under water making super stable and easier to grab the wing. I think with volume is either your weight in L or over, or 20l under or more.

What's out there that looks good to you at the moment? e.g. Apple Skipper Wide is 92l = 5'11" x 22.5". Seems like if you want narrower, everything is longer.

out in out jumping, powered wave riding - short is good. Shorter the better.

But for everything else - especially lighter wind winging in waves that aren't messed up by the wind - starting easily with the smallest wing and foil is best - hence longer waterline boards that are narrower. also downwinding..

that's how i see it anyhow.

new armie board just pitched as the all rounder.

That's how i'm seeing it too... a good one-board-does-it-all. If you want narrower, then you're going to go longer (with some compromises).

This one seems to tick all the boxes in modern wing board design. And it looks pretty too.

As nice as the board looks I would never buy a wing board which resembles a door. All of the square shapes feel wrong on a wave, Ive tried 3 or 4 and owned 1 for 1 session before rapidly selling it. I could see it for freestyle but for me a board for waves has to have a pointy thinned out nose.

it looks as if the foil box has been moved further back. Armi reduced forward geometry?

Answer from @REALmattnuzzo on YouTube:
"Boxes are still the Forward Geometry so they are farther forward. Since the board is shorter per volume the back of the track does come closer to the tail. I have found that with stock Axis fuse I ride most of their wings between 0-2 on the new Wing FG. For the advanced fuse I am riding their foils in the 3-4 range. Armstrong foils I ride between 6.5-7.5."
