Anyone seen this wing yet? Aluula. Windows. Apparently better low end. Really like the V1 but the bigger sizes are HEAVY. Should be coming out soon.... I'm excited!!

Jeez, whatever happened to "more affordable than windsurfing"? You can get a motorbike for that much. OTOH, I'm sure the racers will cough up.

local dealers should have started sending out preliminary info to regular customers - the wing is yellow aluula on the leading and centre strut, with black and grey swoosh for the rest of the dual skin canopy and two central windows about 1/3 along the way of the centre strut. no boom, still 2 hard handles (from what i can see). design of the wing looks about the same as before.

Race equipment is expensive in any sport.

You don't have to buy cutting edge equipment if you cannot afford it. Ozone has excellent affordable options (Flow) that have enough performance for most riders.

I think it's the opposite, more innovation, research and development, plus more investment into new aspects of the sport (racing) drives the sport forward. It can also mean that eventually, better technology trickles down to the average winger.

Yep. My local shop has 2024 wings for under 900 pacific pesos.

In the early days Windsurfing was described as 'poor man's sailing'. Therefore, when wingfoiling arrived ($600 for a wing and you only needed 1) we called it 'poor man's windsurfing'. Now we have to find something that we can call 'poor man's wingfoiling'.

I don't mind if specialist racing equipment is expensive and requires careful handling, as long as there are decent, performance alternatives for the average joe and the weekend warrior.

I agree with the comments that this is intended for a very small audience of racers and represents the pinnacle of the sport, which will ultimately trickle down.

On the other hand, it is interesting to see how the market continually escalates pricing to a point of resistance that kills growth, then invents a new sport to foster that growth again. Windsurf > Kite > Wing > Parawing > ???. The survivors of the cycle are the ones who continue to evolve, while the manufacturers that stick to their niche get killed. How much of the evolution in windsports is dictated by the manufacturer vs the actual audience?

Depending on your local conditions, you can get away with just one hand wing and 1 foil. This is what I did last summer (even though I had 2 wings, I didn't use the bigger wing). Sometimes I was a bit overpowered (probably would've been fine with a harness), other times a bit underpowered OTOH, had I been windsurfing, I could've gotten away with 1 sail, but at the cost of 50% less sessions, half of the rest being either badly underpowered or overpowered. So, in terms of wind range, TOW per $ wingfoiling works out to be cheaper than windsurfing.
