I hate the time it takes to set up my foiling gear and I am always looking to save time.
I like the way GoFoil has its setup with base plate, mast, and fuselage in one and then the one screw holding the foil and stab.
I have some old Naish gear lying around, and I was thinking that I could just join it up and use some 3M 5220 and stick it all together.
Has anyone tried something like this? Any better ideas besides going out and buying a completely different setup?

I do this kind of thing all the time to make set ups stiffer. if your goal is just eliminating the water and salt and corrosion aspect with the need to break down and rinse off, silicon sealant is a lot mellower and comes apart easy while displacing the water in the connection. You don't really need to consider 5200 to be permanent in that set up though. It will come apart if you force it, and there are products like marine anti-bond which are designed to soften and remove for 5200. For aluminum on aluminum, you can even use epoxy, it'll be fine. My last Uni set up with a cedrus adaptwr I had 5200 in there and it was totally fine coming apart.

I'm glad to hear that someone has already done it with success.
I have some 5200 lying around, so using it is not a problem. The mast is actually nackered, the leading edge where the first screw goes in has sheared off, was thinking that 5200 would give a big more strength as well and not push all the load onto the other two screws.

if you use aluminium and stainless steel screws you can achieve a permanent joint just by not washing your gear.

Glued my gong mast into the base plate with thickened epoxy. Much more solid.
