For a "solid" guy of 1m89 and +/-110kg who is starting out (Naish 6'6 140 liter board with Axis BSC1120 / Freeride 440 foil) in order to be able to practice in a minimum wind range to fly at 25 or even 30 knots maximum, what sizes of Wing Smik V2 do you recommend ??
Thanks for the suggestion Hilly but unfortunately I'm in France so sending it won't be easy...
In fact, to start with just 1 wing I was thinking of taking a 6m? given my +/- 110kg, but it's for the second wing where I'm hesitant, knowing that I want to be able to practice in very light winds so is the 6m? is very powerful and will go or should I rather take a 7m? to complete this 6m???
Or is this 6m? powerful enough for light wind (despite my +/-110kg) and should I prefer a smaller wing (5m?) for conditions of +20 knots to 30 knots max??
5m and I happen to have one in the classified for sale
I agree.. 5m
In light wind a 5m? (V2) will be sufficient for a beginner of +/-110kg!!?? Is this wing that powerful?
I wanted a 2 WIng quiver for this very light wind range up to 25, 30knots max and I would have thought that I would have needed a 6m? and a 7m?, after which perhaps the V2 models are much more powerful equal in size to the V3??
You asked about 25 knots which will be a 5m. Light wind is not good to learn in. When more skilled a 6m or 7m will be needed for light wind.
Yes, I was advised that to begin with the ideal was to start with 20 to 25 knots, but in the future I would also like to be able to practice when unfortunately the wind is lighter +/- 10 knots as is often the case here in summer.
Besides, to start I was advised to go given my weight (+/-110kg) on a 6m?, the question was do you think it would be more judicious to complete it with a 5m? (so for windy days stronger) or by a 7m? (for days with light wind)??
So knowing that I'm thinking of starting with Smik V2, for those who know them, who know their power and ranges of use, what would you advise me??
Well I think my choice is made, in the end I'm going to go with 2 Smik V2 wings, a 6m for "weak" wind and a 4m for "stronger" wind. I hesitated between 6+5 or 6+7 but a 7m was not recommended for me to start with and then a 5m would have been too close to the 6m, according to all the feedback I got, ideally you need between 1.5m and 2m maximum between two wing sizes. I will start like this and I will see later to complete with another size of wing or to evolve my foil with a smaller and more efficient front wing.
