There have been a few previous postings on Bali.

If you use the search function you should be able to find them.

I have not been, but the word is you need a 16m kite. (I am going in August but only have a 12m - bugger!)

G'Day JR,

I have just come back from Bali and also spoke to my friend in Bali this morning on the al capone.

We were there for 3 weeks on the turn of the season and for the last two days it started. They are getting good winds almost everyday at the moment up to around 25 knots.

There are a few good spots to kite around the KUTA/LEGIAN area. Ku De Ta restaurant and Bar is good if the wind is right or for more fun Chang Gu is the dogs bollocks. Sanur is also good but usually a couple of knots weaker and the surf is a long way out. Turtle Island is fun for flat water (launch from Sanur Beach Club) and Balian is good if you dont get killed getting there on a motor bike. Strongly suggest hiring a car and driver to get you there.

It's all good for the next few months so if your going to go, do it over the next few months.

Cheers

Had one day in sanur on 4th of July last year at 18knts for 3hrs before dark. But the rest of the 14 days were barely reaching 10knts. If you are going I think now is the time.

If you are going to go to Bali, I strongly suggest kiting at Changgu and taking a 16 and a 12. You won't need anything smaller. A light and stronger wind board would be an idea. An even better idea would be to take a surfboard and ride this in the lighter winds with the 16. That way you can surf when there is no wind and kite the light and strong stuff.

Remember Bali is famous for Surf NOT wind. For a Bali trip, surfing should be your primary motivation with the bonus of kiting coming in at second consideration as it was mine. That way you'll have a kick ass holiday. If you go expecting good wind everyday and haven't got a no wind plan to fall back on, you could be disappointed.

Hope this helps.
