I've had a few outings on my Xmas present and if any of you guys are looking for a shorter board with stability then this board is worth a go.

Don't let the width worry you you hardly notice it.

If you want to rip then something narrower would be better, but for shear enjoyment reguardless of conditions is where this board is at.

Hey Ian,

I've got the 10' Mana and recently got the 10' Whopper which I just love to bits.

I've really considered the Starboard 9' Hero as a throw around little bro to the Whopper without losing that amazing stable feeling in all conditions.

Can I ask your weight / height etc.

And.....have you ridden the Whopper / Mana and can compare ?

yeah the Junior Burger looks good!! Love the whopper.. so loose when you put in the right fins... im guessing it will be the same with Junior... Riding the 9'5'' Mana now... love it to bits when you get decent sized wave... hate small dribble.. only problem atm.. its either outragously big or a mil pond! [}:)]

Being a whopper fan myself am wondering what fins you got in your whopper.

Hilly,
I'm not qualifed to write up a review, just enjoying what the board has to offer.

Lacey Lane, Quote the words of a bygone tennis player- "you cannot be serious"
I was wondering who would be the first to hang sh1t on the width. Stand up and take a bow, your the winner.

Surfanimals,
Old, Never surf before taking up SUPing, short and fat. 88kg and 5' 7"

Had a go on the Whopper and found it way to wide

If you're in love with Whopper then I'm pretty sure you would enjoy Junior. Feeling much the same but quicker.
I'm pretty sure the Whopper would collect dust if you had both.

Homeally & Gizzie,
A mate talked me into trying a big cut away fin in my 9 8, I could tell the difference straight away.
Haven't tried the standard fins in the Hero yet, happy with the cut away.

LOL not a review when you are saying how well it goes!

I argued for no review section as it does not get used enough and splits the discussions. Laurie moved a few topics but seems to be a bit selective :-)

and htfu Lacey is entitled to his opinion

Yeah your probably right LL.

I guess I was writing from the point of view that the width is really not a hassle if your not looking for a performance board.

IMO - the first thing you notice when you get on or near a hero is how wide it is. That is not a bad thing, its just very obvious. My wife actually loves this board and its the first ever board she has paddled that she feels confident enough to paddle for a little wave on. Its great to see starboard and naish and others bringing out smaller and much wider sups to cater for the smaller person wanting a stable platform to assist them moving into the surf.

Swapped the side fins for H2's... kept the drake but put it as far forward as possible... works unbelievable in small surf... drake as far back as possible in bigger surf so its not soo loose down the line..

not fins again!!

Try the search function there are 10 pages of results for fins www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/search.asp?mode=DoIt

try standupzone gear section there is heaps on fins

my point is that most people do not use the review section they just post reviews in the general section nuff said
