hay gang,I have a Dakine Taboo waist harness,am I better off getting a Matrix impact vest to compliment my Taboo or spend the xtra $'s and purchase the combo impact vest/harness ?....yes I have asked for advice before but get a mixed bag of replies....BIG question is....does the combo want to ride up or is the Matrix impact vest a good choice to have with my existing Taboo?.....yes Echostorm your Dakine vest is the best fitting/quality/boyancy vest on the market,I have found, but also the most expensive...don't mind letting go of the money, (to my favourite kite shop), just want the thing to do the job i.e not ride up and be comfortable.....thoughts on the subject will be appreciated...Roo

Try the mystic impact sheild jacket. great product at good price and made so you can put any waist harness straight on without worries..

Hey Rooey. I use a Dakine impact vest when the surf is huge. I also wear a Dakine Tabu. works fine.

How much flotation do these impact vests give?

hay Nebbian,my sources tell me that the Dakine Matrix has the best boyancy factor,Mystic second all the rest are o.k but none carry the P.F.D criteria that the water safety bodies require (in all states),in saying that, most of the top brands keep you resonably boyant.....fitt to body shape and adaption to a particular harness is my main objective,as is why I have been interested in anyone's'hands on experience' with any of the styles on the market.

hay Bigwave D,it seems its all good regarding the Dakine style of impact vest,Echostorm stands by his and does a heep of wave kiteing, sounds like you aqree the same....for me a vest will give a little boyancy, protection and warmth so I am definately getting one.My local kite shop is helping me find the appropriate style and size but I do appreciate others views to help me see any pittfalls before I buy....Roo

Have used the dakine impact vest for kiting for over a year now and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Two things stand out for me - (i)if you look like miss timing a landing you just aim to land on your back, no fear of broken board or body parts and (ii) I found waist harnesses tended to ride up my back and get uncomfortable, the vest can't do that to the same extent.
