If you didnt know how old you were ...

How old would you be ?

That is the true question

I was a 17yo young'n on holiday over on the gold coast who was sick of windsurfing and wanted to burn a really big hole in his pocket with a new sport.

kitesurfing was the only answer...

I was 33 - this was the perfect age for me as I had done a lot of the other sports (including wind surfing) and needed something new.

Kitesurfing has made the last 9 years so much more enjoyable.

Still having great seshions to, two great kites in the last two days.

just a small observation but there seems to be alot more older guys in the sport... i am curious as to why that is

my theory is that thier the only ones who can afford the lessons and gear

Lessons at 29, bought my first setup as a 30th birthday present to myself.

Started sailing when I was 11, Snowboarding when I was 25.

Kiting was a good water sport alternative for over buying a boat - don't need a shed or a shed load of money. Also, living in London at the time it was an awesome portable sport that gave me justification to travel all over the place (like I needed it)

I started kiting 6 years ago at 49 with my son then aged 15. My youngest son aged 13 thought it looked like fun once we mastered the art of returning to the same spot and then picked up a kite. We all still kite. It's impossible for young guys to get into the sport without the support of parents due to the high costs involved.
