Hi,

greetings to all from the Land of the Unexpected. I have been here in PNG for over 2 weeks now. We went to the Trobian Islands, lived in the Village, attended the Yam festival and kited several locations. I have been kiting with Dolphins, among canoe racers and having 500 kids screaming at us boosting over jetties..
SE trade winds have been blowing 20-30knts every day and you will find butter-flat lagoons, decent reef break waves and everything in between. There are so many islands that can be accessed by banana boats and i have never seen so much reef anywhere else in the world...
The culture and people are amazing and we were greeted with smiles and open arms anywhere we went. The call us affectionate " DIM DIM".

I am now back in Moresby teaching every day ( several wicked spots for teaching and riding in and around Moresby). Yesterday, I went to another village on the waterfront where my friend Tao, a local windsurfer and his family live. We came with a truck full of kite donations ( big thanx to Auswind, Windgenuity, Joe and Mel and all the others that contributed).
We caught up with the people from the Windsurfing Club to give them an intro to kiteboarding. They loved it and are keen as mustard to get into it. There were hundreds of kids, handing around trainer kites, having a ball.
Today, we will teach the kids from the windsurfing club on the main beach, local media will be present and i expect to get a few local kids up riding. Next Saturday, the same is going to happen with the guys from the PNG Surfing Association which are great supporters with this whole venture as well ( Cheers Andy and his crew).

My stay has been very pleasant ( biggest thanx to Jason and his amazing family). There is so much potential here in PNG for kiting up here...
We will have a few stories coming out of this trip in mags and the likes. Take this post as a an appetizer, dont write this beautiful country off because of the bad media publicity you hear about Port Moresby. Remember: Experience is the best teacher and my experience here in PNG has jut been positive and mind-blowing..

Bless up and Peace from PNG
Marve*

Hi, I think I remember you from back in the day. You used to sail Hobies with my friend Liz W if I recall correctly. For sure look me up when you are here. JayP and I are off to Thailand but not until Sept so we should be good to go

Hi Bearbusa.

You will find some really nice waves in lihir, there is wind but it will be light most of the time and unpredictable if it does fill in.

the local crew is looking forward to seeing what the Ozzie guns can throw down. see you guys in a week or so!.
