Me too. But dont know if kiting is allowed on the fam trip. Have seen people out at Yall, Margs, Grunters, Inji. Havent kited any but surfed them all at one time or another Imaging yall would be awesome on a seabreeze.
have kited yallingup a number of times in the past. i think it is better earlier in the season rather than later as the wind tends to have a bit more west in it whereas later on it tends to be SSE and yalls becomes a bit touch and go.
i launch on the beach to the north of the lagoon towards rabbits which is nice and wide, body drag out through the (sometimes heavy) beachie. it is then an easy tack upwind into the lineup. wave riding is good for the novice as it is a big fat ol' shoulder that can standup nicely on the larger swells.
watch out for the shallow ledges towards the very inside near the beach when going left!
yeah havent been to bears for many moons not sure if enough beach for launching, that was main query mumma's probably best bet with channel to babies to get out thru
Windmills might not be that great as exposed rock at the northern end of beach - would not be fun to be washed/blown into.
Another option might be other side of Indji - anyone????
Last time I went to Derrs you would only get a ticket if you parked on the top of the dune - otherwise ok.
I went hunting for waves (offshore ones) once north of Derrs on a day with a bit of swell. Didn't find any waves for surfing, but looked like a few good set-ups for kiting.
BTW Bolgo, when do you want that bar back so you can sell it? (Secondhand one on its way from Adelaide, but need to get it modified for 5th line)
if you go to yalls, make sure you head to rabbits to lauch, its a bit more user friendly (not as much reef) then you can tack up to Yalls main. Good fun, just watch out for exposed reef this time of year.
I launch at the lagoon and sail across the north side of the reef. The launch can be sketch since the wind is gusty but i reckon its better than taking on that shorey.
