I know a lot of people reckon it’s a waste of time when it’s under 10 knots but …

Yesterday I had a great time cruising upwind from Scarbs to City Beach and back, picked off some nice glassy right handers that the surfers left unridden … getting 3-4m boosts off the lip, some back-loop-kite-loops out the back (albeit the kite finished the loop after I landed) and generally enjoying being the only kite out on the water on a hot afternoon. The sunset was awesome too ... Stoked

My 17m FlySurfer Speed is on loan so I was flying my 18.5m Titan.

You've got expensive taste puppet!
The "Silberpfeil" or Silver arrow has got to be the most expensive kite ever made!
Seems it's basically a Speed 17 made from some tech "cuban fibreish" material that weighs half as much. Now that's a zeppelin! But it won't Hindenburg! Oh the humanity!
I don'[t think it will make that much difference for the normal dude. Once you get moving performance should be pretty similar to the standard S17.

Forget what I said about thinking of losing my S17.
Just had 2 days of lightwind fun, only guy out, screaming along throwing a huge rooster tail, jumping and surfing back in! 9-12 knots. On a 128. What a kite!

Yeah but I'm on the water with my "Airship" in less than 5 mins from when I pull up in the carpark. I never leave a pump, bar&lines or anything else behind on the beach. It never leaks. Relaunching off the water from 5 knots is simple and quick. AND it's awesome out on the water in under 10 knots It's all about doing what you enjoy

Toby has said all I know about the 'Silver Arrow' - except that they are 'made to order' only. I agree with Tobes too that I don't think the additional performance is worth the extra $$$ - jeeze the performance of the Speed is awesome as it is!

Hey Phil the Titan was here waiting for you while I was overseas - should have taken it for another spin mate! If anyone wants to take it for a test fly just give me a call 0414716812 or email

Hey Dale I'm still waiting for your lightwind upwind challenge - in your words "bring it on"

Another mellow sunset sesh down @ Scarbs tonight, preceded by a bit of fun @ Leighton while waiting for enough wind to teach @ Peli Pt! Even did a water relaunch demo in 5 knots on request

Paul,

There are also 3 reviews about the FS Speed on this forum. Check them out.

The Speed is a really good kite.

Cheers.

Another of those magic Speed 17 sessions this arvo
9-12 knots, riding brand spankin FLX 128, glassy river mouth with little kicker waves, so much fun.
There's been pretty much no wind around here for weeks, so its sweet to be able to have such a fun session in what little wind does turn up.
Pretty impressed with the FLX too, planes really early, softer rails than the Fridge Door i was riding, so landings felt a bit looser, but those waffle footpads and the cold water didn't do nice things to my feet. Ouch.
Hope someone else had some fun today!

Is the regular 17m speed the 2nd most expensive kite ever? :)

How does the 17 S compare, in light wind, to a Blade 8.5m?

I have landboarded with one in less than 10 knots and it had heaps of grunt. Probably could have jumped if
a) i was used to the kite,
b) i didn't slide out downwind due to the grunt :)

cheers

Not anymore Looks like the new Psycho3's will be dearer than the Speeds! Speed 17 retails for $2670- Expensive? Yep. Worth it? I think so

Anybody got an 8.5m Blade 4? Lets find out! Sounds like fun! The 10.5m Blade3 is meant to be business. I like to be able to get em wet though. We've gotta do that foil day thing sometime, I'm happy to let anyone that knows what they're doing have a go...
