Yesterday I witnessed an unfortunate incident in which a young woman, her baby (being held by the young woman) and her mother were in the path of a runaway kite on a sunshine coast beach. The young lady attempted to grab the kite and was slightly injured in the altercation. Lucky for all it was a nice and soft Peter Lynn.
The pilot retrieved his kite and proceeded to secure it. The young lady continued on her way up to the car park while her mother got stuck into the kiter because her failed to give an apology or show any remorse. He eventually apologised to the young lady but the damage was already done.
I coped an earful in the car park from the young ladies mother about the incident. I tried to diffuse the situation, apologised for the incident and tried to convince the mother that this did not happen very often and it was an accident and she need not make a complaint too the local council as she threatened to do many times.
The anger was not mainly because of the minor injury or the broken bag and lost shirt, but at
the failure to give a prompt apology and lack of remorse.
Please fellow kiters, make sure your equipment is secure when setting up, make safety your number one priority and make good any bad situations, otherwise we will be band from the local beaches.
Thankyou.
