[Updated Wed, 5th April]

Dear WAKSA Kiters,

The West Australian Kitesurfing Association Annual General Meeting and Season Closer will be held at the City of Perth (City Beach) Surf Life Saving Club

The current plan of events for this Sunday 9th April is as follows:

Downwinder

We aim (wind dependant) to run a downwinder from City Beach to Brighton Beach (Scarborough) during the afternoon. Proposed meeting time is between 14:00 to 15:00 at the SLSC.

A bus will then run between 17:00 and 18:00 to get people back to City Beach including all kit. The bus is only available for WAKSA members and will make as many journeys as is required during that hour. To make sure that you are picked up by the bus you will need to "sign in" before starting the downwinder with one of the WAKSA beach marshalls.

The AGM

The AGM will be held at 18:30 at the City Beach Surf Life Saving Club.

Once back at City Beach we will be putting on drinks and pizza for everyone as well as showing some new video footage from some of this summers events. Please feel free to BYO your own alcohol.

As the official end of season event, trophy presentations from the 2005-2006 WA State Freestyle Titles will be made. As you recall, a major goal of the event was to establish a WA State ranking system; the results are now finalised and a list of competitor rankings has been posted.

We are trying to keep everything fairly flexible and it will fit around the AGM. The AGM will not change time and will start at 18:30.

Be There!

We look forward to seeing you at the City Beach SLSC on Sunday 9th. It is situated on Challenger Parade, City Beach, just south of the Oceanus Restaurant. It has excellent outdoor and indoor areas so regardless of the weather we’ll have a great get-together.

See you all Sunday.

Jess, Alex, and the WAKSA crew

Is there any better starting time because me and i am shore another couple of other people have to travel a bit to get there and back, like i live in Mandurah. Could you maybe do it on a Saterday because i am shore that other people would find that more conveniant as well, because no school or work the next day and i means people can relax a bit more and have more fun.

Thanks
Brad

Forecast is looking brilliant

Please make sure you check in with the waksa crew on the beach to get your wrist band .
The bus driver will only be letting people on the bus that have the bands .
We are doing it this way to make sure that we do enough trips to get everybody back and that everybody is accounted for at the end of the day .

Free pizza waiting when you get off the bus after a downwinder

See you on the water

Good point jan.
We will make sure someone is at City Beach SLSC carpark with the sign-on kit earlier than the advertised time if the conditions on the day look like they will get people on the water earlier.
Cant have too much wind causing a problem can we

I have lessons @ Peli Point until 3pm but will be down later if anyone wants to test fly the new FlySurfer Pulse after the downwinder.

Wind is in already so I'm outta here!

This is one sweet day for a season closer
For those who choose to start their downwinder before sign-on & wrist band registrations are available at City Beach your WAKSA crew will make sure there are officials at the Brighton Beach end between 5 & 6 to ensure ALL members get their free ride home.
A very nice way to be caught short but we will have a sign on crew set up at City Beach asap.
Please sign in before launching if you can.
ENJOY

Thanks WAKSA for a memorable day.

I really enjoyed it and all the company. Sorry I had to bolt after the AGM, but my poor daughter just had had enough. She was cold after becoming seasick...(I never thought it possible). Brave girl, walked the kite for 2 kms and got over it, and is happy now and did have a good time after all. I think she enjoyed walking along a beautiful beach watching all the cool dudes on surf boards cruising by

The surf is certainly intimidating and I can appreciate what can be done by our great talents here...because boy, it ain't easy. I can see the comfort of a surf board though....less catching of edges for sure.
