Is there anyone in Perth who's into landboarding?

Langley Park is OK with the Dirtsurfer, ATB or a buggy in Southerlies. So are the ovals near Steve's (Nedlands Park Hotel) - which is also great on the bike path with the Vigorboard.

In N to E the South Perth foreshore is good for both big wheels on the grass and small wheels along the bike path.

In W The two ovals above the Cott Golf Club is great - awesome grass banks to carve on with a Dirtsurfer!

There are also some smaller ovals along the coast that are OK in W, WSW.

Carves much more like a surfboard than the snakeboard.

If ya wanna try a Vigorboard then get down to Airborne, SOS or Hold the Line Kites and give it a bash - Warning like another sport we all love it can be addictive!

There are some dity great big salt pans down at safety bay which the land sail on.

It would be a wicked spot to cut loose, just wear some serious clothing for the gravel rash

Vigorboards are cool, but they don't carve like a surfboard, just so none of you guys are disappointed. Vigorboards ride like vigorboards.

im also pretty keen to do the landboarding in winter.
but do you need any special kites for it or can i use the same ones i use on the water.

my only worry at the moment would be bringing the kite in when i finish. those salt lakes in safety bay look mighty tempting but theres never anyone else around to catch the kite.

You can use your LEI to landboard but it may be more prone to damage than a foil - plus foils have a couple of other benefits http://members.iinet.net.au/~ianyoung/Flysurfer.html be careful though - if you venture to the dark side you may not come back!

You really shouldn't be out on a relatively remote place by yourself anyway - besides I'm sure if you post on Seabreeze there's a heap of crew that would join you and try something new.

You might still need to land at the other end of the salt lake so self-landing skills are still a must. You need much less wind to landboard than in the water so self-landing is less dangerous but still should not to be taken for granted.

It's years since I've been out to the salt lake off Ennis Ave? Rockingham but I believe you need a key to the gate - Neil from HTLK can advise you. It needs to be dried right out too.
