Here's a great opportunity to move to one of WA's best kitesurfing/windsurfing/surfing towns, Carnarvon, base camp to the Bluff and Gnaraloo.

I need a caretaker/maintenance person to live on site at our hatchery. I also need a hatchery technician from August to March each year.

Existing staff all Kitesurf and surf and are keen to get likeminded people to join the team.

If interested in a lifestyle opportunity you can email me
[email protected]

I also have skipper and deckhand positions available at the Montebello Islands, WA's best water sport playground.

I hope to hear from keen kiters/surfers soon

Mark

hey longy, i stayed with andy and gabby in january, and he said you did a bit of kiting. I didn't know how to kite back then (still not great now), so i didn't really know what to look for in conditions. Wheres the best place up there to kite?? and whats the best time of year? i might have to come and play with the sharkies with ya's. cheers, az.

Best kiting in Exmouth is September to February. Swell hangs in till December so 1st class wave riding on 200km of Ningaloo Reef Sept - Dec. Need to be pretty experienced to hit the outside reefs though.
Good flat water sailing at many locations in the lagoons on the West side.

From May - Sept we get East South East winds in the mornings and you can get good flat water sailing off town beach, not a patch on surfing the outside reefs though. Generally we pack the kites away in May and go surfing till Sept.

Same season applies to Carnarvon but extended a bit each end.

A word of warning, like most places, if you live and work here you will score many perfect days that are world class but if you just come for a week or 2 you could luck out with calm flat conditions. Check the charts before coming or make a sea change and move up.

G'Day Longy,
i too am an aquaculture person, just about to move over your way (Exmouth) to project manage a new prawn farm, i have a mate Richard Davis, whose number ive lost, he too manages a pearl hatchery in Carnarvon, do you know him? Have his contact?

Also, how do you go getting staff to work in Aq over in the part of the world? You may have heard of the company, Cape Seafarms who are about to start up in Exmouth, have a hatchery at the bottom of the gulf (Giralia) and are building a rather large farm near Learmonth?

Super keen to catch up with some other kiters later this year when i get over there, thanks and regards.

Hi Ya Stamp (Scotty),
Sorry if I dropped in on ya, did I?
The shame of attracting kiters looking for a sea change is that those perfect secret spots we love may get crowded one day, bugga!! But then the reef is 200k's long so I reckon if 10% of those that rekon they will make a seachange actually do it then it will take about 20 years before it gets crowded. But hey, if it gets crowded from kiters that live and work here then I rekon thats better for everyone than just having touros come in for the peak season then f*** off.

Hi Ali,
Richard does manage our hatchery in Carnarvon. We got him into kiting last year and he's loving it.
The prawn project is exciting, I know the crew doing it. When do you start. The best part of your new job is that you are about to move to a kiting mecca.
We need aquaculturist for the Carbarvon hatchery so if you know anyone else that needs a seachange ask them to get in touch with us.

The hatchery number for Richard is 08 9941 1133

Cheers Longy

hey mark, you dont want hookworm or any other gnotuk kiters coming here mate, trust me. none of them are toilet trained and they are uglier than a beach full of windsurfers
you didnt really drop in on me; i was just too underpowered to claim any waves. i would've done the same (and do)
