Are you asking which straps to use, or how to fit them?

If you're asking about fitting them, a bloke I kite with fitted a couple of retail plugs to his, but he reckons a couple of pieces of hardwood would do the same job. Cut the recess for them, epoxy them in place and glass over the top.

Predator surf straps look ok, they are open straps so you can get in and out quickly. They have a deck pad that sticks on and they screw on and off quick. Some on ebay now goin for around $60.

Check out Liquid Force or DaKine. Both have a range of straps that will work on your surf board. We have quite a few surfboards we use with kites and have tried most straps on the market. The Liquid Force and DaKine straps we have found to be the most comfy, value for money and durable.
If you have any questions or would like to know who in your area supplies these product please feel free to contact us.

My biggest gripe with footstraps for boards is that where there are positioned for wave riding is not where you want to be when you are normally riding. If you position them for wave-riding, when you ride normaly the board seems to flap around in front of you.
For smallish waves I have no back strap, but put a predator strap on the front foot and placed it quite far forward. This allows you to position your front foot for planing and wave-riding, and makes jybing pretty easy.
This is just a stick on system and mine has held well.
