I'd like to thank and congradulate the dedicated few who kept the national association alive while Landyachting in Australia was in a major decline. Without them we'd now be starting from absolute scratch, whereas now we have everything in place ready to ramp up to accomodate the resurgence that Landyachting is currently experiencing.

I'd also like to wish those who are taking the national association into the future the very best of luck and hope as a sporting community we can all work together with the association to make this sport successful and take it places it has not been before. There is definitely an exciting future for Landyaching Australia, lets ALL be a part of it!!

The word "United" implies more than one coming together and forming into one.

With that in mind, the creation of a register of land sailors on this forum could be a good idea, especially for those of us in remote locations. For one thing it would facilitate group mail outs for announcements of events and meetings and for those organising these it would give an idea of numbers.

Does anybody have any further thoughts on this??

Cheers, Cisco.

Good idea, how much detail do you think it should contain.

The introductions sticky was supposed to be a place where everyone made themselves known, however there was a long period where it was to old to edit, so missed a lot of people. I think Laurie has fixed it now though.

This is great t see. Hope it gets its feet off the ground now that we have been given the green light to do some work.

I see a register would give an indication of numbers but as for being any more useful to a national body Im not convinced. People come and go from forums and what would end up is a lot of paperwork, etc going to a lot of names that have moved on. It would have to be updated fairly reguarly to be of official/formal use and linked to organisation membership (to pay for the paper ).

EDIT: By the way, where did the old ALSA thread go?

Altho it would be interesting to know the numbers of Land sailors checking this site I wouldnt like my details up where all those BAD SPAMMERS have easy access to them.( i dont need any more "Junk Mail" ) in my email box.
On Seabreeze the private message system works well and if there is something for all to know the forums are great.

I do agree with that. Spamminig is a right pain. If you put your email address up anywhere it comes flooding in.

This forum is really quite excellent with it's features and I believe has all the necessary tools for communication of members of a far flung organisation.

Does anybody have any creative ideas on how we may better utilise the existing features of this forum???

Cheers Cisco.

Can a future ALSA spokesperson deliver any material they want to via the Seabreeze mail system (more for documents, newsletters, etc)? I dont know whether attachments are accepted though. Either this or just have a thread where only ALSA can post and everyone treat it like a sign board.

Maybe even the poll feature could be useful for voting on issues.

Keeping up with the current usage is a great place to start, we have a good thing to build off at least .

There's already a couple of LandSailing articles online, and anybody can enter them directly into seabreeze via the News/Articles system...

www.seabreeze.com.au/Articles/Land%20Sailing/Summary.aspx

If you'd like to add to the public repository, visit here:

www.seabreeze.com.au/Members/Content/Contribute.aspx

Regards Bulk Email, it's not something we are able to do at the moment, but can be administered by your association. There are new developments on the way, but it would be remiss to offer things not yet available!

If you enter "Bulk Email" into google you'll be swamped with companies who are keen to assist!

Enjoy .. Laurie

With what Laurie is hinting at and a "Seabreeze Online Landyacht Club", we might just end up with something we can ALL be part of.
