OK I have taken away some valid criticism and suggestions from this (ta maltchom etc??).
Professor we are obviously from differant ends of the spectrum. I should have also clarified that I was at least aware and considerate enough to have body dragged out a fair bit past the break when this was happening. It is a good suggestion to go upwind as well. However we all like a bit of re-assurance that we aren't too far from help or lifegards especially when learning.
Prof, if you had been there in my harness perhaps you would appreciate just how stupid and lazy/needless SOME of these buzzes really were.
As for the L-plate comparison who actually thinks it a great idea to get in V8 and buzz P-platers (as is probably a more fit comparison) in the same lane as them on the freeway??? No, we see the situation, give em a little tiny bit of leeway, and ease past them so we can all be safe (well as an ex motorcyclist I certainly do).
We have all been there, and need that transition before we get to the legend in our own lunchbox stage. Look it's too easy to say every learner is a kook. I have invested my $$$, done the lessons, read as much info and advice here and elswhere and am trying to piece all of it together and put it into practice. So there's not much more out of the water I can do to ease my impact on your beach.
No doubt you were lucky enough to learn a few years ago, when there was less learners around. Here's a news flash the sport is booming and the traffic is only going to get worse, so there is absolutely no point in hanging on to the "it used to be so much better - now there's always newbies stuffing up MY beach".[}:)] Where's the differance in this attitude to the rubbish that comes from boarders and pole dancers? It's all a bit immature and "I was in the sand pit 1st" really.
Just try to show the same respect that I was trying to (as I said within my limited skills). That way we can all have more fun and less forum time. Now that sounds better to me and i don't even need to repeat it! arf arf arf... Oh BTW words don't cut anywhere near as deep as a kiteboard at 15 kts...

just because your a beginer dose not mean you own the water
If it was a small beach then who cares about gear over the top of yours it's prople a popular landing area and the only place they could land there kite.

It was only one ordinary day in a less friendly spot - I think I will be ok after some therapy though.. arf arf arf.
Get out there if you can this week - good luck too.

Hey getfunky

if you think the beaches here in Perth are bad, crowded for beginners count yourself lucky you are not in Cabarete with about 40 kiters on the water and another 40 on the beach... generally no choice but to lay lines out over others gear etc.... and yet it is considered a kite mecca for learners and advanced kiters alike! Kite tangles are a daily reality; back here in the sleepy backwater of Perth is possibly the most tranquil kite experience traffic wise you're likely to have almost anywhere... so that's the good and the bad news!!

Today was awsome, Nothing like a 20 to 30 knot seabreeze to clear youre local of newbies. Just wondering though where do all the experienced kiters go when it blows strong, because i never see many out.
