I was out in Lancelin this week and was careful with the windsurfers at the main break - it was my first time out there! Sure the wind was a bit gusty but it was beautiful! Quiet, what a view, shoulder high waves building and spilling, and working on my wave riding technique some more. It was great seeing some of the better windsurfers ride the waves 'close up' too. (Did the sailing right out the back thing, before coming back in to catch a wave like everyone else... all cool)

Stoked! Shared with other people!

Then the next day, drove alone down some 4WD track with no one around. A little bit nervous (pushing the envelope again?) and careful self-launch and going out. Waves were bigger and thicker lips than the day before and it was just me, the sea, wind and empty coastline (except for the odd car driving along). Worked on my drops, cutties and toeside riding.

Stoked! Independant and alone in nature!

Stoke is not reliving the past, although that can feel good for sure. Stoke is about living the moment, its an "in the moment thing". Stoked to be alive!

Yea but stoked is also the feeling you get on the way home after a great session. Or when you cant sleep at night, cos all you see when you close your eyes is those waves coming towards you!

you don't look at the mantle piece, when you stoke the fire.

I found a nice little piece of stoke yesterday, at the time I was doing a new trick, of sorts. Reminded me of the stoke of the first time I went upwind. Ahh stoke...

Seem to have misplaced that piece of stoke today, it was in the shape of a green arrow, has anyone seen it? It was there on the forecast this morning, but not on the charts this arvo... :(

Maybe a better way to describe it is to combine both what you said and I said?
Stoked to be alive in the moment because of the the feeling of having had a great session!

It's alright, nobody panic, I found it. It was up at Wedge today, looking decidedly like a green arrow again.

Something you share....

Doing something new... and pulling it off!

Went down south and it was onshore at the beach and couldnt get out past the break one day (again, only kite out... only person out for that matter!).

Walked across the sandbar and onto the inlet and it was like glass. My first time on flat water. Felt like I was ice skating. And I had all that downwind to go again (even landing on the lawn in front of our holiday house). This was GR! after struggling to get upwind thru the break / sitting on the beach waiting for the wind to 'pick up just that little bit' / etc!

Again so quiet but now so smooth it was unreal!!!

Then a flock of black swans and a flock of pelicans took flight as I passed by them, flying alongside and in front of me. Suddenly the water and the sky merged. It was as though I was flying with them. It seemed to go on forever.....

Or is that 'freeriding'?
