Hey guys my deflate valve came undon after a crash today. Result i got salt water in my LE bladder not much but i can notice extra wieght when pumped up. I havent and wont fly it.

I managed to get most of the water out but i think i need to take the LE bladder out and make sure theres no sand or heaps of water in it. Iv pulled from one wing tip out the velcro and pulled the blader out about 6 inches. To assist the flow the water down but now i cant get the thing back in...... I think i should just pull the bladder out all together but god knows how i will go getting it back in right!!

Ahhh the joys of kiting.... Any help is appreciated!

P.s my kite is a 9m 2008 ozone sport one pump.

dude to be honest if you havent taken out a leading edge before i wouldnt attempt now :) you can quite easily burst your bladder if you get a knot in it and pump it up to much, plus its just frustration to the max unless you know what your doing. My suggestion is take it to the store you bought it from, they are generally willing to help. watch them for the first time then you can do it yourself.

but in saying that, to be honest i dont think you need to take the bladder out to get rid of excess water. Its happened to me on more than one occasion and i have fixed on the beach simply by grabbing a mate we hold one end up each and face the deflate valve towards the ground the just roll the kite up and just make sure you squeeze all the water out of it.

But also in saying that if you having trouble putting the bladder you have already taken out then you should take it back to the shop and get them to show you how to put it back in because dont incorrectly you also risk bursting your le bladder.

Hope this helps mate

Its so easy, Tie a string the end that is being pulled through the leading edge. Then carefully pull out the LE from the opposite end.
When out wiggle around til you can get the water out through the valve.

To put the le back simply pull the string and align accordingly, pump up and check, if not right, remove and try again.

Hope that makes sense.

Noooo, dont take the Le bladder out, not need at all.
You just need a mate or two and a backyard out of the wind.

First get the bladder back into the kite, get a stick/rod like the end of a fishing rod and poke it in the end of the LE, and then gently push the bladder back in, holding the end of the bladder in place before you start poking, once the you have the loose bit inside the LE, just fold over the end and secure the velcro.

Pump the kite up, but block off the struts first so that they do not fill up, but only pump up the kite to 60% and then check that there is no twist in the end that you pulled out. If no twist add some more air to about 80%.

Then have a mate hold each end, you get in the middle and rotate the LE so that the dump bung is facing down and is at the lowest point them release it and all the water will come out.

The get the garden hose and put some more fresh water in and swish from end to end with the help of you mates and about 50% inflation, then dump the water as before.

Thenpump the kite up fully and leave for a few hours or overnight, any remaining drops inside the bladder will evaporate into the air in the bladder, then just dump the air out and you should be good to go with a clean and dry bladder.

Always make sure the dump valve is fully seated before launching or pumping, I always lick mine and then insert it, it slips in easily with some spit on it.
(remember this if you buy my old demo kites!)

Get a squirty bottle and full it with dishwashing liquid and water, its heaps easyier if you spray your leading edge before you try and pull in back through.

thanks steve iv inserted the 4 inches of bladder back in. The orange trailing edge materail cover is back on aswell. It feels a tad bunched up but this is fill out once pumped?

Also the velcro end the you fold in and seal. Is it ok if the bladder folds with it? I checked the other side and about and inch and half folds with the velcro..

The end of the bladder should be level with the end sock of the bladder casing. If youre not sure call me, I'll talk you through it.

Steve
