MELVILLE CAR PARK 17th February 2009 - 20-30knots of river breeze, after 7 days of rubbish wind.

With limited parking available at some of our fantastic spots...and in view of the Sail vs Kite issues currently being aired across the state this doesnt help smooth the waters....

Basically the car park was completely full and road spaces also gone. 5 spots taken instead of two. Rumour is that the operator was kiting...while parking where windsurfers set up.

Being a windsurfer and arriving at the spot at 5.45pm to see this really peeved me off. Especially as there were NO other spots available.

I can understand using up two spots, but 5 is ridiculous. The forecast was good from the night before so its not a case of being in the wrong spot at the wrong time.

Not knowing the full reason why the vehicle was left like this...I mean there could be a completely fair reason - injury or something out of the driver's control.

It just doesn't win many points with anyone, regardless of whether you are a kiter, a windsurfer or someone who wants to park to walk their dogs.

*Apologies to seabreeze for the photo (with the other site advertising) - just didnt have my own camera - Although I couldn't park to sail or take a photo anyway.

There seem to be some people who have no regard for anyone else. Irrespective of what he was doing in the water, I'd say let his tyres down, based on the article on the original forum that it came from, its not his first offence either and it seems the only emergency he has is that he wanted to kite really really really badly. That way he may remember not to be inconsiderate next time.

in the addition to your name and shame post why not slip a note under the windscreen saying you are peeved and say next time you will call the council ranger to come and book them

Maybe he should trade parking lessons for kiting lessons?

I don't believe he was even in the water.
He normally parks there and then goes 500M down in the park to teach kite flying skills with trainer kites.
Parking down there would be more conciderate

Then again I'll bet he has a very good reason

At very least if a carpark is full (or likely to be), he should back his trailer into a bay, unhitch the vehicle, and park beside it. Car = one bay, Trailer = one bay = all OK.

Not sure how it is a Sail vs Kite thing, don't WA surf do both?

Very inconsiderate parking......if it affected you why not let them know, their phone number is on the side of the trailer.

Yesterday he was back!
Full carpark due to a dozen rice burners picknicking and windy conditions.

I must say a lesson has been learnt, he was parked like a normal caring, sharing water user

Must have realised the trailer is not required after all, or worked out how to disconnect it
