Cameron-

have a look at the sleeve inside the mast step.

notice that I had to cut a strip out of the sleeve to make it fit- also the gap straddles the welded seam inside the mast step so it wont damage the fiberglass mast.

Great Colour Scheme! You have one attractive looking miniyacht there sir. Dont forget to pry the camera away again when you go sailing or set the machine up again.

Any hints about how you did those cool graphics?

The only time it has been used was trials on a grass oval, but due to the suzuki hatch wheels and axles fitted then it was way too heavy.(that was V1.1)

V1.2 had an adjustable seat- which was too high and I felt it was still too heavy.

V1.3 is how it is now (and how it should have been built originally- I should have stuck to Pauls plans and saved myself a lot of time, money and grief)

I have a couple of sails being modified by Paul, and I have a bodgy sail that I will try out when I get back home in 2 weeks, hopefully we will have access to Lake Gnangarra by then!

The artwork is just vinyl stickers that were made up by a signwriting company- they have a HUGE range of different lettering types on thier computer and can do all sorts of magic.
Total cost for the graphics was $50.00 - they charge a minimum of $40.00
You might be able to get them cheaper if you shop around- I dont get that option, due to spare time being a bit short.
Often I just have to pay through the nose to save time (hurts a bit)

Mine came in around 34kg.

Thanks for the info. I have a local sign writer where I have spent less than $20 (was only a single sticker). They can whip up some great things behind the counter, and your stickers definately compliment the craft well.

CRIKEY!!!!! once again the home builder makes me look like a bodgy builder.
guys that yacht looks magnificent. $40 for the stickers is good value I reckon.
when we finally race I'll be so busy looking at the yacht , you'll sail straight past me
I actually have your first sail cut up on the table at the mo so i will get into gear and get to work on it asap.
dont forget to put the yacht into the landyacht register
I wonder why it is that these home built yachts just feel like they need a name
just needs a Seabreeze sticker to finish the job

"when we finally race I'll be so busy looking at the yacht , you'll sail straight past me"
for that to happen you have to be in front in the first place Paul

Yeah, Once they've been given Pauls seal of approval, he should allocate them a registered build number!

the plastic bushes fitted to the yacht are from fallshaw, when I picked up my wheels I saw some plastic bushes in the parts bins in the warehouse- they gave me a couple of 3/4" and 20mm bushes to play with.

They are a push in fit with exhaust tubing (32mm?)

but at work I found urethane bushes fitted to leaf springs (in the dump)

they are made by TERRAIN TAMER and probably aftermarket landcruiser parts.

i.d of 20mm, o.d. of 40mm part number 90389-14056P.

next landyacht I build will be using these urethane bushes

plans bouncing around in my skull for a collapsable 2 seater..........

With a front end maybe you could use bearings for the steering?

I thought about bearings- but I wanted urethane as it will soak up some of the vibration and shocks.

I need another (bigger) shed......but then- no matter how big you build a shed- you always fill it up pretty quick.....

if photos of the COMPLETED yacht out sailing were presented as qualifying evidence then it may be possible that the individual right to display the logo , along with the required dimension , might be forwarded on the BUILDER of the yacht
after all not everybody get to have the word ROYAL in the name of their yacht club , do they

I reckon the flying pig logo would look great on the front of the stack hat!

When I get back home (another week and a bit) I will check out lake gnangara and see if it is firm enough after all the rain.

There is a good chance it will be good as last time I checked the lake it was very solid less than 2 days after heavy rain.

Bodgy sail wont look as good as the yacht though (mind you- the paint job on the yacht hides a lot of metalworking sins

today was one of those days where going to work was not worth the petrol so I serviced the sewing machine and got sn's sails for" Dangerous Goods V1.3 "out of the way. a 4m and a 3m with a 2m reef point.
I did find it all very thirsty work , I must say kind of full strength, tasmanian kind of thirst

That 4m sail looks so good It might just sail past me if Im not careful

it was 5.8m surf sail from shoreline sails. thecut was very flat and the battens dont even need reshaping. really tough quality material . a really good find. I dont know how much sn paid for it
