I have started to understand that the problem with internet forums is that people will write stuff that they wouldn't say to someones face. The s.h.i.t.fight between winsurfers and kiters is fuelled by these forums- It's been real - but I am deleting my login and I am outta here. The saksa forums are the place to look for the kiting updates cya there.

Sorry you feel that way Chris.

My dad has been windsurfing for over 30 years, which he was doing way before anyone even 'thought' about the idea of kitesurfing.

He came out every single day and stood on the beach while I was learning to kitesurf.
He taught me about the wind directions and how to read the sky, when and if a front might be coming through and just how to be safe on the water in the wind. He only knew this through his windsurfing experience.

And Chris, I have seen my dad help a kiter on the water when he was in trouble.
If I'm ever in trouble on the water and there are no kiters around, I'm going to pray there is windsurfer out there who can help me.
He also launches and lands anyone on the beach. Not just 'for his daughter', but anyone around, even if they're not part of the group of people I'm out with. Just like us kiters, he loves being down the beach, out on the water, or just watching everyone enjoying themselves on the water.
As I'm sure the majority of both kiters and windsurfers do!

I have also been out on the water kiting next to him on his windsurfer a few times and its the best feeling when we are out there together!
One day I might even get him to do a downwinder with us!

I agree Kat this kind of thing has been going on for years between sk8boarders &
roller bladers, skiers & snowboarders and now windersurfers & kiteboarders. We are
all out on the water to enjoy our selected sports lets just drop the crap and get on well with each other more fun is had that way. we can all put **** on each other over a cold beer afterwards.
Peace

i read this forum on the odd occasion, and find i quite funny.

you can refer it to sk8ing/blading or body/normal surfing but in the end we share the beach,

being a person that kites and windsurfs i hear both sides.

basically it comes down to one group having been around for years and having to share area with new "young punks" the kiters.

the safety factor and stupidity that kiters have shown in the past is a fare reason to be worried or angry.

and the basic on water knowledge that kiters lack is also a huge problem.

its easy solved, as kiters respect the area and people your riding with and you'll get respect back.

not hard.
just drop the attitude and flashy show of moves 5 m from the beach and enjoy it together.

I agree with many of your points joyrider. But i believe it is unfair to paint all kiters with the same brush. There are kooks and d*#kheads in both sports who need to pull their heads in and learn a few rules of the sea.

We can all get along, long as both parties respect each other. And respect has to be earned and not demanded. It does appear that these problems have arrived with more kiters venturing into the waves. My tip before you head into the waves is to learn the wave priority rules. Trust me, you start dropping in on windsurfers, kiters or surfers and you will find that all of a sudden people are rather nasty towards you. I have been surfing for 20 years now and i have seen plenty of angry moments out in the water, and we do this for fun!

Learn the rules, respect each other, ask if you don't know and if your not sure who has priority, there is always another wave and may be a bigger one.

Cheers Croc

hey guys,, the fighting between Kiters and windsurfers is stupid and way out control, as i am with Joyrider.. I both Kite/ windsurf/ Bodyboard and surf.

Its all about respecting all on the water..

Its all about giving each other space.

After talking to many other states, SA is the chillies place to ride. Lets keep it this way and you all need to pull you heads in..

sadly croc not all kiters understand this factor and dont respect the whole wave ocean thing.

yes there are some windsurfers that have attitudes but if you have been riding the same place for your whole sailing life, how do you expect to react when a group of punters show up and demand respect often without giving any in the first place.

i remember windsurfing down the mid when the first kiters showed up about 5-6 years ago.
no idea except they could surf.
then down wind outta control through the line up.

i personally know u croc and i know you respect the waves but certain others on this site should maybe just stick to the north shore beaches and leave the attitude and "gangstar like disrespect" to their own crew that love to get on seabreeze and winge about each other.

fare go, wind loving friends

its not whos cool at school its about enjoying yourself and the enjoymnet you get when it blows hard who gives a **** what you ride its about the ride that makes it. Everyone out there has there own way of enjoying the wind and the water lets just respect each others way of having fun and not become biggots
