The South East Queensland OC1/OC2 (Outriggers) Series is about to begin and SUP has been included in the program. Most races are between 8-12 km depending on the Host Club. I will post more up to date info here as it comes.

Last year SUP was included half way through this Series and there were no real Classifications as such. People just raced whatever boards they had. Depending on numbers and levels of interest this year, there may be classifications such as 12'6" & Under, 14' & Under and Unlimited.

Race 1 - 22nd August at Hervey Bay hosted by Hervey Bay

Race 2 - 12th September hosted by Northcliffe

Race 3 - 26th September at Mooloolaba hosted by Mooloolaba

Race 4 - 17th October at Noosa hosted by Noosa

Race 5 - 31st October at Bramble Bay (Shorncliffe) hosted by Panamuna

Race 6 - Final 14th November Seaway to Seaway hosted by Outrigger Australia. This will be a 42km relay race.

Paddlers must compete in 4 of the 6 races to be eligible for a series trophy.

The National Titles for this series will be held at Coffs Harbour on the 12th-13th December 2009.

Hey Pete..I'm having a meeting with the SEQ President late next week and we are going to discuss the Series for SUP. Things like divisions, distances, courses, indemnity forms etc.

I'll keep you all posted as I get more info.

No plans for Hawaii in the near future. Cook Islands is next.

At the moment Piros you talk to me. I'm not sure there are enough paddlers for the 3 categories. Not sure about the 14' Class. Are there enough 14' boards in SEQ to make a division ? Should we do what NSW are doing and say that there must be at least 3 entries to make a division ?

Last year there were only a handful of us who competed in this Series. SUP did get included half way through so there was not much preparation or warning/information for the paddlers. We are hoping this year will be better. It's all a good lead up to the Seaway to Seaway and the Nationals at Coffs Harbour.

I think I'll start another thread and ask people intent on racing in this Series and on what. Stand By.

SUP got included in the SEQ series in 2007. From memory there was about 7 people who paddled the Moffits run. That was the first test for the Penetrator and it went well. Last year there was a bit more interest and we asked to be included. Lets hope this year we get the numbers that Honolua get!!!
